Niko Tsakalakos to be Joined by Annie Golden in Return to Barrington Stage, 6/20

Barrington Stage Company (BSC), the award-winning theatre in Downtown Pittsfield, MA, under the leadership of Artistic Director Julianne Boyd and Managing Director Tristan Wilson, welcomes back award-winning composer Niko Tsakalakos with "The Niko Songbook" at Mr. Finn's Cabaret on June 20 at 8:00pm. Tickets are $35.

Joining Niko onstage are Annie Golden (TV's Orange is the New Black and soon to star in BSC's world premiere Broadway Bounty Hunter), Alyse Alan Louis (Disaster!, Mamma Mia!), Eric William Morris (Joe Iconis Family member, Broadway: Coram Boy, Mamma Mia!). Solomon Lerner (The Golem of Havana) is music director.

Barrington Stage audiences loved his rockin' score in the 2010 Musical Theatre Lab premiere of Pool Boy, and his cabaret performances of Songs of a Night Owl, and Late Nite with Niko. Niko's work is a mixture of rock, pop and jazz, and this triple-threat is also an amazing singer.

Niko will be performing songs from Pool Boy, and from his latest compositions; Fall Springs (music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos, book and lyrics by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb) and Into The Wild (music and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos, book and lyrics by Janet Allard).

His musical, Pool Boy, which he co-wrote with Janet Allard, received a world premiere production at Barrington Stage Company's Musical Theatre Lab in the summer of 2010 to sold-out audiences. The show also found a home in New York at The Provincetown Playhouse, an NYU Steinhardt Production in the spring of 2012.

He is currently writing a new folk-rock musical with Janet Allard, Into the Wild, based on the best-selling book by Jon Krakauer. The show has been commissioned by Perseverance Theatre [PT] in Alaska and received development support from the Ground Floor at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Into the Wild will have its world premiere at Perseverance Theatre in spring 2017 at both its Juneau and Anchorage locations.

Niko also currently works with San Francisco-based playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. Their collaboration started with a few satirical songs they co-wrote for a play of Peter's called Litter: The Story of the Framingham Dodecatuplets, which was produced in 2011 at ACT. They are now writing a full-length eco-conscious musical, Fall Springs, which has received generous development support from Ars Nova, New Dramatists and TheatreWorks Silicon Valley.
