On May 21st, ImprovBoston proudly hosts Boston-area high school improv teams for the first-ever High School Improv Fest. Over the course of the day, students will have honed their craft with professional instructors, networked with other schools, and had a chance to perform a show in a professional comedy theater.

Featuring nearly 50 high school students, the festival includes a panel discussion featuring professional comedians who will equip students with the tools and advice they need to continue performing comedy well after they graduate.

Teams include:

  • Boston Latin School's Yellow Submarine
  • Brookline High's Needs Improvement
  • Cambridge Rindge and Latin's CRLS Improv
  • Gann Academy's Button Fly
  • Berlin High School's Chomping at the BIT

"We're excited to provide students the opportunity to watch and improvise with students from other local schools," says High School Improv Fest Executive Producer and ImprovBoston Lead Producer Mac Gostow, who started his comedy career as a student in an ImprovBoston comedy festival.

The High School Improv Fest takes place on May 21st throughout the day and features a performance by all teams from 4-6pm. Tickets are available at https://highschoolimprovfestshowcase.eventbrite.com.

ImprovBoston
Unexpected. Every time.

For over 30 years, ImprovBoston has been New England's leading theater and school dedicated to the art of comedy in all its forms. Voted "Best of Boston" by The Phoenix, The Improper Bostonian, and The Weekly Dig, ImprovBoston performers, teachers and students have included film stars, Emmy Award-winning comedians, and acclaimed producers, directors, musicians and writers. ImprovBoston alumni are featured on Conan, Late Night with Stephen Colbert, The Daily Show, America's Got Talent, Funniest Wins, Playboy, Last Comic Standing and John Oliver's Last Week Tonight, to name a few. In 2014, the Independent Reviewers of New England honored ImprovBoston with an award recognizing its longstanding contributions to the Boston theater community. As a nonprofit arts organization, ImprovBoston serves the community through laughter with youth outreach programs, workshops for businesses, scholarships, a national touring company and, of course, performances at its theater complex in Central Square, Cambridge.
