Fresh from a successful run of their annual Winter Panto and nine nominations for the 2014 Independent Reviewers of New England Awards, imaginary beasts are at it again, this time pairing their innovative and unique style with the classic and timeless wit of beloved French playwright Jean-Baptiste Pocquelin-better known to audiences as Molière. This coupling will have you doubled over in your seat and is not to be missed!

Take a ride on love's merry-go-round when imaginary beasts present Molière's rarely performed gem, Lovers' Quarrels, translated into English verse by Richard Wilbur. Jealous rivalries and merry mix-ups lead a trio of couples astray in this classic tale of deception and intrigue. Young Ascagne (Lynn Guerra) has spent her life in male disguise for the sake of a family inheritance; but when she falls in love with her sister's rejected suitor, she enacts a bold masquerade that sets off a comical chain of events that changes the lives of everyone around her. At the helm of this production is IRNE Award nominated director Matthew Woods (who does double duty as set designer), the company's Artistic Director. IRNE Award winning costumer Cotton Talbot-Minkin and lighting designer Kevin Semagin work with Woods to create a visually stunning playground for their talented ensemble of actors. Hop aboard Cupid's carousel March 28 - April 19 at the Plaza Black Box Theatre at the Boston Center for the Arts and enjoy the ride!

When Lovers' Quarrels premiered in 1656, it was said that nothing so wonderful had ever been produced on the French stage as the quarrels and reconciliations of Molière's eponymous young lovers. Boston audiences are sure to agree when they see imaginary beasts' take on the whimsical story.

Performances run Thursday through Saturday evenings and Saturday and Sunday afternoons, with one special Wednesday performance on April 16. Show times vary and ticket prices range from $19-24; group rates and special discounts are also available.
