In the shadow of the threat of war, a new leader has used his charm and treachery to win the crown and the Queen. Prince Hamlet returns home to an unrecognizable political landscape, and is compelled by an apparition to avenge his father's death. Paralyzed by the task ahead, he rages against the impossibility of his predicament. Meanwhile the new King is much less ambivalent in plotting Hamlet's death, and Denmark is thrown into turmoil with devastating consequences.

Brooks Reeves will be playing the role of Hamlet. In his four short years in Boston, Wyoming born Reeves has performed with over ten different companies, worked on multiple award winning productions including Apollinaire's Stupid F**king Bird (Elliot Norton Award Outstanding Production:Fringe 2015), and won a 2015 IRNE Award for Best Supporting Actor. Recent productions include: An Octoroon and Shockheaded Peter (Company One), Arabian Nights (Central Square Theater), and Boys in the Band and Bent (Zeitgeist Stage Company). This will be Brooks 5th production with Apollinaire, where he also delivered stand out performances in From White Plains, Midsummer, and Blood Wedding. Critics have taken note: "He was brilliant," "one of the best actors in town, hands down," "captures our attention and never lets go." Brooks studied acting and playwriting at Hampshire College.

This is Apollinaire Theatre Company's 13th year of offering free bilingual productions in English and Spanish. In anticipation of the fall opening of our new youth theater, this summer our Chelsea Youth Theatre students will present the Spanish production on July 30 & 31 at 6:00.

Hamlet will be presented as a Promenade Production, and in Apollinaire summer tradition the audience will move with the action. Audiences will be on their feet for about half the show. All areas are wheelchair accessible. Patrons with mobility concerns who will not be bringing wheel chairs are encouraged to call ahead so a chair can be provided.

Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and beach chairs, and a picnic to enjoy along with the harbor views.

Performances are July 13-31, 2016 • Wed.-Sun. • 8:00

Press Opening: Saturday July 16 at 8:00

The production is staged environmentally as a promenade production, moving to multiple locations in
