Fiddlehead Theatre Company announces its 2nd season as the Resident Theatre Company of the historic Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Road, Dorchester, MA) in partnership with Mayor Martin J. Wash and the City of Boston. Through expanded arts initiatives and new community partnerships in the Dorchester neighborhood Fiddlehead is reconfirming its mission of bringing Broadway to the Strand and building community through the arts.

Fiddlehead's 2014-2015 main stage season has been expanded to include three Tony Award-winning rock musicals: The exclusive Boston presentation of Tim Rice and Elton John's AIDA (October 17-26, 2014), a collaboration with Aids Action Committee; The Wiz (February 13-22, 2015) and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar (April 24-May 3, 2015). Featuring professional casts and live orchestras, Fiddlehead's upcoming 3-show season will also include special visits by Broadway talent and talk-backs by industry legends. Fiddlehead is also expanding its educational and community outreach programming by forging new partnerships with neighborhood groups including the Boys & Girls' Clubs of Dorchester.

Fiddlehead's Producing Director Meg Fofonoff is committed to making the theatre company a constant for cultural change in Dorchester. "Our 2nd season has been carefully crafted to make a positive change in the neighborhood and bring community together," she said. "By creating new arts initiatives and bringing Broadway-quality shows to the Strand stage we hope to attract new patrons to the Upham's Corner area to see great theater, and also to support new and burgeoning local businesses just outside our door. We are thrilled to support Mayor Walsh's ongoing investments in Upham's Corner." Off-stage, the company's free educational programs and growing partnership with the Boys & Girls' Clubs of Dorchester will allow Fiddlehead to engage children in theatre and learn new skills. Said Fofonoff, "We look forward to continuing our work in the community - on and off stage - and invite audiences to help us "rock" the Strand this season."

Mayor Martin J. Wash affirmed The City of Boston's continued partnership with Fiddlehead Theatre Company. "Fiddlehead Theatre Company is a valued partner and leader in the revitalization work being done in Upham's Corner," said Mayor Walsh. "By staging high-profile Broadway-quality theater, forging neighborhood partnerships, and offering free educational outreach to neighborhood youth, the company's investment in the community will have long term and lasting effects."

Fiddlehead Theatre Company's 2014-2015 Main Stage Season at The Strand

Fiddlehead Theatre Company will present three of the most explosive and passionate musicals of all time. These modern classics explore themes of ethnicity, discrimination and love, and feature talented multi-ethnic casts singing contemporary scores from pop to rock to soul:

Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida - A Boston Exclusive!

In collaboration with Aids Action Committee; 5% of each ticket supports Aids Action
October 17-26, 2014

A modern Romeo and Juliet story, AIDA is a contemporary musical tale of the bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. It is a battle against all odds with an uplifting finish. It inspires us all to reach for the stars.

The Wiz

February 13-22, 2015

The funky, modern re-telling of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum won 7 Tony awards. This Broadway musical sets Dorothy's adventures in the Land of Oz to music in a dazzling, lively mixture of rock, gospel, and soul.

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar
