Greg might have brought home a red sports car, but instead he's brought home Sylvia. Sylvia is the sassy, street-wise mutt he picked up in Central Park one afternoon when he wasn't at work. When he adoringly brings her home, his wife Kate is appalled. She doesn't want a dog, she wants freedom-their kids are at college and it's finally her turn. She resents Greg's infatuation almost as much as she resents the fact that, in Sylvia's eyes, Greg isn't just perfect, he's God.
