Brendan Hughes Returns to Harbor Stage Company

The Harbor Stage Company, Cape Cod's artist-run theater by the sea, is very proud to welcome back the visionary writer, director, and tastemaker Brendan Hughes, for a one-night only presentation of his comic lecture, The Pizzicato Effect. Equal parts TED Talk, stand-up routine, and 21st-century tilting at windmills, the lecture deploys visual diagrams, intangible theories, and preposterous arcana in what Hughes describers as "a valiant attempt to double-click on the Universe".

A critically acclaimed stage director, writer, and filmmaker, Hughes began presenting a version of The Pizzicato Effect during his tenure as Harbor Impresario, a position he held from 2008-2010 and one which led him to assemble Harbor Stage co-founders Jonathan Fielding, Stacy Fischer, Robert Kropf, and Brenda Withers as the space's resident Acting Company. The ensemble is thrilled to have him back onstage at the Harbor, and anticipates a sell-out crowd for his eagerly-awaited return to the iconic seaside theater.

Hughes has directed over 100 stage productions at places like Harvard University, the Sugan Theatre, and Mill6 Collaborative and is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama. He is a founder of Boston's Theatre Cooperative, a prolific writer and filmmaker, and the co-host of the very popular podcast Dad Jeans. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife, documentary cinematographer Emily Topper, and their toddler son, Oscar.
