Meet Aspire Community Theatre, the newest theatrical company in town! Aspire Community Theatre, with the tag "for the next generation of characters," is producing their first main stage production!

Following a well received original touring show, Dancing Through the Ages, Aspire Community Theatre is excited to offer the musical favorite, Little Shop of Horrors.

Written by Broadway legends, Howard Ashman (Book & Lyrics) and Alan Menken (Music), a team who produced the ever popular Disney classics The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast to name a few. With pedigree of this stature, even if you aren't familiar with the musical comedy, you can be assured of an entertaining evening.

Little Shop of Horrors is based on the 1960 film by Roger Corman, and centers around Seymour Krelborn, a resident of Skid Row, an unidentified downtown slum in the USA. Krelborn, a lowly worker in Mr. Mushnik's florist shop, happens upon a "weird and exotic" plant one day, and finds caring for Audrey II, to be a bit more than he bargains for. Audrey II, aptly named after Seymour's crush and coworker, Audrey, grows into a phenomenon beyond Krelborn's meek existence. The Faustian overtones of the plot, mixed with 1960's sci-fi film flair, brought to life by the words and music of Ashman and Menken, make Little Shop of Horrors a production not to be missed.

Little Shop of Horrors is being produced by The New Group, Aspire Community Theatre. ACT is helmed by Trigger Weddle who is no stranger to the local theatre and dance scene. Weddle has directed and choreographed many local productions, is a choreographer and teacher at Northern Dance Academy, has served as an adjunct Theatre instructor at North Idaho College, and and has recently been seen in area productions as a performer. Aspire Community Theatre, offers a conservatory approach to theatre education, and provides something tangible to work on for the young and young-at-heart artists in our area. In addition to main stage productions, Aspire Community Theatre will offer Master Classes, smaller scale performance opportunities, and technical experience to the theatre artist wanting to sink their teeth into interesting (and entertaining) productions; theatre produced in the same way professional companies approach their material and with the same expectation of the budding professional.
