Angela Lansbury is set to appear in the upcoming Broadway revival of "Blithe Spirit," joining a cast that includes Rupert Everett and Christine Ebersole.
Lansbury, who had been rumored to be on the producers' wish list, will play eccentric psychic Madame Arcati in the revival of the 1941 Noel Coward comedy. The show reunites her with helmer Michael Blakemore, who directed Lansbury's last Rialto outing, "Deuce," in 2007. Lansbury - Blithe Spirit

Between Mary-Louise Parker in HEDDA GABLER, Cynthia Nixon in DISTRACTED, Lily Rabe and Mercedes Ruehl in THE AMERICAN PLAN, Alison Pill in reasons to be pretty, and now Ebersole and Lansbury in BLITHE SPIRIT (on top of Dianne Wiest in ALL MY SONS,) the spring is really shaping up to be chock full of divas in first-rate plays.
Now all we need to know is who Suzan-Lori Parks has cast as Rose in the forthcoming revival of FENCES.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
