Sorry to threadjack, esparza, but how did you enjoy the show today? I think I sent my PM telling you to come say hi a bit too late.

When I was younger I waited for Bebe Neuwirth outside the stage door of Chicago and was so eager to get her autograph that I caused her to trip over a garbage can. Fortunately, she was very nice to me.

^^ That made me laugh, I am the biggest spazz in the world.

The other day I was waiting at the ITH stage door and I had my Sharpie handy and sometimes people use there own. So I was ready to hand my Sharpie to Karen and it was out front for her to grab it but she says "Can I use this one" (the one that turned out to be in her hand that I didn't see) so I'm like "Sure, yeah whatever" it was very weird. And I always think I am going to talk to them compliment them or something but I am always so nervous to talk to them and very star stuck, I have no life if Karen Olivo gets me star struck.

I witnessed a fight between two groups of stagedoor folks at Hairspray once. It was when Jerry Mathers was in the show. I think they were fighting over where they were standing. I was embarrassed for them, not only at their behavior, but at the way they were fighting over a standing position to meet Jerry Mathers.

Not a stage door experience, but I lost the ability to speak when I bumped into Julia Murney on the street.

"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott

After a performance of the Wedding Singer, someone near me said how they had seen the show x amount of times, and gave her some kind of compliment. I said that I wasn't nearly that impressive because I hadn't seen the hsow a bunch of times, but she couldn't hear me and she thought I said SHE wasn't impressive. Luckily she was a good sport about it (after I explained myself).

I remember my father trying to get me Sandy Duncan's autograph after a performance of Chicago when he was by himself. He was standing by the stage door and a small blonde woman came out and started signing autographs. He approached her and asked, "Has Sandy Duncan come out yet?" and she said, "I just did."

At the end of the run of The Apple Tree, my friend and I saw Kristin Chenoweth leave the stage door and go running into the arms of Aaron Sorkin where they then proceeded to make out and display extreme public affection. Kristin then returned to the crowd and signed autographs as if she was in a daze and then ran back to him where they made out some more and barely made it into the car with their clothes on.

I'm sure it wasn't awkward for them, but it was certainly...interesting for the spectators.

My friend and I were in the front row of Spring Awakening and after the show Lea Michelle told my friend that she thought he was Cory Feldman was in the first row.

And then there was an awkward pause, and suddenly she covered it with "But you are totally cuter than him when I see you out here."

That was also the night Jonathan Groff came up to me and said "Wasn't I singing to you all night?" and I basically died and went to heaven.

Singing "Happy Birthday" to Christine Ebersole was also all kinds of awkward, even though it was a big group. And then we had to sing it a second time so her guests could videotape it.

Stage door BEFORE a matinee curtain of DEUCE. Marian Seldes was making out with some guy. I was across the street and stunned. I admit I took pics on my cell.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

When I was at the stage door for The Drowsy Chaperone, I was standing on one side of the railing, and Mara Davi was standing on the other side. I went to take a picture with her, and I turned around and leaned against the railing (she was standing behind me in the picture), and the railing fell backwards, causing me and the railing to fall into Mara Davi's arms.

Not on Broadway, but when I saw Wicked in Chiacago this past Christmas, about 10 people were at the SD, and when Dee Roscioli[Elphaba] came out, everyone was like "Yay! and blah blah", and right behind her is Kate Fahrner[Glinda understudy], and she starts to sign a Playbill of the person closest to the door, and the person goes "Thanks so much, you were great...Who were you?"
I almost laughed..but didn't. I Don't really blame that person for not knowing since she was an understudy and looked different from when she was onstage[ dark hair, not blond]. I found it a little awkward..also when I saw Sweeney Todd, I had ordered a shirt from Lauren Molina, and while talking to her, I almost grabbed HER silver sharpie out of her hand because I thought it was mine. woops. haha [she's really an awesome person .]

At "Young Frankenstein"...

There was a group of really annoying girls who kept saying "I smell a Tony!!!!!" everytime someone came out. Obvioiusly, their senses need a check-up.

When Sutton came out, she was with a guy I didn't recognize and she was rushing through with nobody recognizing her... except me. I really wanted a picture or autograph, so I just said, "Sutton. Over here?" quite quietly. But, once they realized who was signing my Playbill, she was attacked with requests. She kinda sighed and started signing. I felt terrible.

When Megan came out, a group of schoolboys wearing very traditional Jewish clothing asked me to take their picture with her, but she kinda glared at me and said, "No pictures tonight." So, I'm the bad guy... When she is signing my Playbill, my dad snapped a flash picture of her and she looks up and me and says, "There's always someone, isn't there?" Since she didn't realize he was with me, I kinda went along, bad-mouthing my own father! As she moved on, my dad quite loudly told me what a diva she is. Very awkward indeed.

Not Broadway but when I saw Jersey Boys on tour Zach Prince was on as Frankie and at the stagedoor he signed my playbill then I asked for a picture with him- which he agreed to do so. Anyway, I put my arm around him first and as he began to put his arm around me, he brushed up against my butt and then said "I'm not trying to get fresh with you!" Not awkward for me, but I'm sure he almost died. (Of course I wouldn't have minded if he got "fresh" with me...but that's a whole different story). Oh Zach, how I love you.

I was so excited to meet Shoshana Bean after Wicked. When she was close by I was going to just turn to my friend and say, "I think I just peed myself." Just to be funny. But I ended up saying it to right to Shoshana. Actually, I kinda screamed it at her. At least she thought it was funny.

Friday night at Gypsy, Patti's son came out and I have a slight crush on him so he came out and I was like "JOSH!!!!!!" and I asked for his autograph and he was like "um... why?" and I'm like "Because you're Patti LuPone's son!!!" so he signs my poster and I'm like "do you take pictures?" and he's like slowly walking away like "no..." Haha. AWKWARD.

Chris Hoch was playing Lancelot when I saw Spamalot two years ago. After doing the usual stage door fan interaction, I walked away and headed towards the subway, only to discover that he was walking basically next to me the entire time. And we were the only two entering the subway, the only two to get on at whatever stop we were at, and sat across from each other. It was legitimately awkward for a good five minutes, before he broke the silence and acknowledged the fact that we had just taken a picture moments earlier and were now completely silent. :)

And the next day, I saw him at Junior's and he waved. Hahah.

glitterandjazzhands, if you're serious, I think what you did was incredibly disrespectful. Her son is not someone in the public eye, he's only 17, and you put him in an incredibly embarrassing and uncomfortable situation. I honestly think that by doing that, you showed that you have no respect for either him or his mother. I wish Patti was there to tell you this herself.

Both times I have met Chita Rivera she has said how much she liked my hair. Also, after putting my arm around her for a picture, she jokingly asked if I could take her out to dinner afterwards. Not really awkward but still pretty funny. However, someone did ask her what shows she had been in on Broadway. I think the crowd exploded.

When I saw Sweeney Todd on Tour.
Mrs Kaye came out, and I had a silver paint pen for her to sign my poster with.

I became mortified when I found out that the pen had to be prepped to use. But she fiddled with it for a good minute before she got it to work, and then signed.

Being hit on by this sketchy middle aged man at the Sunday in the Park with George stage door was rather awkward.
