I'm looking for a play to direct that would be suitable for high school students -- something that hasn't been done to death, i.e., Our Town, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Laramie Project, etc . . .
I'm looking for something that has 15-20 roles with an even split in gender.
What have you done that has been fun and successful?
once in a lifetime by Kaufman and HArt. Very funny, and a big cast
Fear no more the heat o' the sun,
Nor the furious winter's rages;
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone and ta'en thy wages:
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney-sweepers, come to dust.
~Cymbeline
You Can't Take It With You is pretty funny. Or there is actually a play called Done To Death. It's a mystery. My school did it this year and it was great.
<--Sometimes it's easier to get out of a jam than into one
NOT THE CRUCIBLE, yes it has an evenly split cast and whatnot but the only people in the audience will be English teachers and family members who are obligated to be there. My senior year my school did an evening of student directed one acts and it was amazing, just pick a theme and one acts that tie into it, it's a great forum for talking about controversial issues, we had rape, communism, the antichrist, and one entirely about racism called, "A Play about Colors" that was sooooooo amazing.
I am the same person as the original goodygalinda, I didn't just bite her name, my email address changed,sucky
