Hey all,

I've been excited by the idea of getting an internship at a broadway theatre working as anything for anything. I've already been told by a friend that it is extremely hard to get into this kind of loop. I was wondering if anyone knows more about this could tell and perhaps give some advice, I would be very grateful.

You can't really "intern" at a Broadway Theatre.

You can maybe get an internship with Jujamcyn or Nederlander (Shubert doesn't really have internships).

Most Broadway internships are at Producing Offices, Press/Publicity Offices, Casting Offices, General Managament Offices, and then Non-For-Profit/Off Broadway Theatre Companies.

PM me if you want in depth details, I am am pretty knowledgable in this area.

I've been talking to friends, and all of them are saying this seems like the hardest year to get internships. None of us have heard back yet.

Where have you applied to? Just interested.

Summer is the most competetive time for internships. Fall is usually the "easiest" time to get them, not they are easy to get, but you know what I mean.

Speaking of internships for this summer, did anyone apply to MTC and hear back? They say they'll contact you, and that you shouldn't contact them, but I think maybe I didn't get an interview if I haven't heard yet.

I haven't either; I got an e-mail confirming that my application was recieved, and that's it.

I know for MTC if they haven't contacted you by the end of the month of March about an interview, that is pretty much it for that.

I've applied to Summer Play Festival, Roundabout, Second Stage, York Theatre Company, New Victory, and I'm sure a couple of others. My friends know some people, but still haven't heard back. Another just got one with Boneau/Bryan-Brown, but she goes to college in the city.

I'm just freaking out a bit, because I've secured housing in the city, and it's a lot of money to cancel if I don't get an internship.

Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thesbijean- do you know if they've already started contacting people? End of March means there's still hope I guess...maybe this week.

Has anyone heard from MTC by now? They said they'd contact you whether or not you got an interview, right?

Isabella, didn't you say that you didn't apply to MTC?

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who hasn't heard anything, because it means that there's still hope!

Isabella, remember there are other options. I'm in high school too, and I will be volunteering at the state theatre this summer (well, it's not confirmed yet, but it's very likely). It's not Broadway, but it is a taste of the industry.

Elphie, on their website it says that interviews can take up to two months after the application deadline...so who knows.

Isabella, you shouldn't give up hope! I'm in the same boat as you, but I just got an interview for an internship this summer. I think if you show enough determination and that you will enjoy what you're going to do, they'll take a chance.
