I think that's a Tams-Witmark title-- their website would have the info. Meanwhile

Rose- female lead
Albert- Male lead
Mae- Female comic role Older
Conrad- Male young lead, sexy
Kim- female young lead

There are lots of small roles and huge chorus numbers.

I used to LOVE this show because it was the first time I ever wanted to be on stage with the cast... and then I did it.....
Cast requirement wise there are MANY MANY roles for people of all ages and abilities. The main cast is the MacAfees (Mr. & Mrs. MacAfee, Kim, and Randolph -- Kim is considered a female principal), Rosie, and Albert who all sing. Then there are the smaller speaking/singing roles of Ursula, Hugo, Alice, Helen, Nancy, Suzie, Conrad Birdie (An Elvis-type character), Deborah Sue, Margie, The Townsperson Sextet, Maude Quartet, Mrs Peterson (depending on which version you are doing). Then there are the reporters who have some miscellaneous dialogues, the teen ensemble which sings and dances to "Got A Lot Of Livin'", and the adult ensemble who sings "Kids". Kim's a triple threat, Conrad has to be swoonable, Hugo has to be a complete dork, Rosie has to be hispanic and sexy, Albert has to be sort of a pushover (Dick Van Dyke played this role in the movie). There is an opportunity to feature dancers in "Put on A Happy Face" which is usually tap. I'm pretty sure that's all... any other questions feel free to PM me!

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.' It's usually a dark bar with a bottle of vodka." ?Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's Jan Maxwell plus i proudly share the title of the shortest member over the age of 10 with wickedrentq!

lol, I did this musical my freshman year of Highschool...I was the PoliceMan with one line, a Shriner, and a Teen.
There are many good parts, oooo hopefully your school does the 100 ways Ballet....that is a fun scene. Some school don't do that scene...

I have a fond place in my heart for Bye Bye Birdie, as it was the first musical I ever saw on stage.

Once upon a time I was Kim McAfee, however, I don't remember a darned thing from this show. Except that dreaded telephone hour.

Omg, I just did this show, I was Penelope Anne. The telephone hour is fun at first, but I had to be all the way on the top top of the structure thing! And it was all splintery and rusty and I was like 50 ft in the air over the audience. It was so scary, and we had to go down the ladder really fast in the dark, and everyone tried to go at once. Good luck though, have fun! :)

Ways to annoy people: Arrive at a meeting late, say you're sorry, but you didn't have time for lunch, and you're going to be nibbling during the meeting. Then eat raw potatoes. Ask people what gender they are,or Disagree strongly with everything anybody says:)

AHAHAHAHA!! No way can our school pull this off! We have... oh, I'd say, about 5 people with talent. Everyone else in the musicals just stand there looking bored... we're screwed...

"No two shows are alike in the making. Each show is a living piece of your life in a small unreal world with its own character and integrity; its own new set of memorable experiences and incredible happenings. You begin to love and adapt to its strangeness. Dreams harden into substance. Values come into focus. You wish it would never end. The dream world vanishes like mist before a rising sun; part of you vanishes with it. And back you land in the real world with a thud- fogged, uneasy, jittery, difficult to get along with. There is only one cure. A new show. A new, small unreal world; new visions, experiences, incredible happenings. Again you love it, adapt to it, wish it would never end. But end it does. Another part of you vanishes. That's show business."-Anonymous
