“Lea DeLaria’s Brunch Is Gay” at 54 Below

I truly feel a need to tell you all that I took my mother to this today as a bonus surprise (we saw GATSBY after) and this was SO MUCH MORE than I thought it would be. It was funny, tuneful, raunchy, and SUPER GAY.

The special guest was Alexis Michelle and they played off each other so well. Alexis even updated the joke in “Bosom Buddies” to “You try to be Sarah Paulson, when you’re Holland Taylor” and my mom and I nearly fell out of our seats. Additionally, Lea sang “I Can Cook Too” (which she says she doesn’t do much anymore) and I was LIVING.

At the top of the show, Lea mentioned that they are trying to make this a monthly residency with special guests and themes, so if that ends up happening, I HIGHLY recommend it - better than church.

Also, the pre-fix brunch menu was only $40, had three courses, and honestly was some of the best food I had at 54 Below in a minute.
