I will be visiting London from NYC for the first time to see theatre and was trying to decided whether to spring for Stub-hub tickets for Harry Potter or if it was worth trying the Friday Forty. Any guidance is appreciated. Apologies if this has been discussed here and I couldn't find it.
I went to the box office and had a choice of the next five full performances in a row. The seats were always in the orchestra (stalls) only. Tickets get released daily, so your chances are good. Just don't expect cheaper seats to come up. Saw both parts on a Wednesday the cost was £ 98 for each part. Sat in sixth row center.
I have gotten seats at regular price on-line a few days in advance, though most of what will come up will be premium price. I have also gotten 15 pound balcony seats by lining up early at the box office on the day of the show. Good luck! The Friday Forty is pretty much impossible. I know a ton of people who have tried it pretty much every week and never won, but doesn't hurt to try.
Harry Potter is rumored to be pretty strict about 2nd hand tickets so I'd avoid Stubhub but they release return seats all the time. Mostly premium and Band A pricing but you get more choice now and then. I booked Balcony seats a few days ago for July and could even choose the dates.

I won the Friday Forty a few weeks back after a few tries. It's certainly not worth relying on it for tickets though, as there is no guarantee.
Once you start to spread it, Baby, if you let it, Love comes right on back to you . . .
Same question... going the first week of October and would really like to see this all in one day on a Sunday... What time should I line up to try to get cancelation etc? Any recommendations are welcome. It is my first time in London so I would LOVE some advice.
Keep checking the official site as lots of seats appear there in advance, mainly one week prior to your visit. Always try the Friday Forty as you may have luck to score great cheap seats.
I was able to get tickets through the RETURNS QUEUE on a saturday (£70 per part) by being the first in line at 7:30 am. The next person arrived one hour later. You should be safe at 7:30.
Thank you guys for the help! I just checked and they have released new tickets. Booked my tickets for Harry Potter in September! Anything I should do in the area between shows?
Go to the House of Mina Lima art store around the corner. It's the graphic designers from the Potter films store who have designed and printed limited edition prints based on the films.
