So I really want to meet Ms.Close and was curious if anybody has seen the show since Thursday can tell me if she's come out Fri or Sat. Evening? I went Thursday and she did not come out, but was told by the stage door people that she normally does and to try another day. Anybody know?

The crowd at the stage door begins to form immediately after the show ends and can quickly become 5-6 rows deep from the barricade. If you're not within the first three rows of people at the barricade, you will likely have a hard time getting autographs. The fastest way to get to the stage door is to exit the theater through the doors on the 47th street side (don't go out the main doors on 7th Avenue).

There really is no way to be certain whether Ms. Close will appear after a show; she seems committed to doing it, but sometimes health concerns or other engagements prevent her from doing so. Fortunately, the security staff usually makes an announcement as to whether she will be coming out.

When I went, the entire cast came out a few at a time and all were quite friendly and happy to sign and take photos. After most of the ensemble had come and gone, the main characters started coming out (e.g., Betty, Max, and Artie). Finally, the security guys announced that Mr. Xavier and Ms. Close would sign autographs and photos of them were allowed, but selfies with them were not permitted. The two of them came out last, together, and they were quite gracious. After Ms. Close left, Mr. Xavier hung around for a while talking to the remaining people and invited them to take selfies with him.

Hey Darreyl102.  I was there Thursday night also.  What a waste of time.  I did catch her Friday at the Drama League Awards.  She didn't sign or take pictures.  One  girl asked and she said no.  I caught her walking and the picture came out pretty good... considering.

As someone who loves going to the stage door, it shouldn't be a "waste" because she didn't sign or take pictures. Don't expect anything besides what the performers give you on stage. Anything after that, you should be thankful for. People are so damn ungrateful these days.

Spare me your sermon, Pollyanna.  To ME, it was a waste of an hours time.

Knowing there was a chance that may have happened, you probably shouldn't have "wasted" an hour of your time then.

I think it's fair to consider that a waste of an hour, as long as you don't get too hung up on it, or direct your anger at the actors. I frequently walk away from unsuccessful stage door experiences thinking "I wish I could have seen the future and gotten home an hour earlier," but there's no one to blame in that situation except yourself and bad luck. You win some, you lose some.

100% agree, JBroadway.  It was a night that I had only 3 hours of sleep earlier.  No anger at the actors.  Never have...never will.  I enjoyed speaking with  Michael and kidding with him when I questioned why he was wearing a sport coat on that hot muggy night, while he sweated and was obviously uncomfortable.  But if I could have for seen the future, I would have utilized that hour to sleep.

I 100% agree with you, n2nbaby. An actor's obligation to the audience ends when the curtain falls.

I suppose it could be considered a waste of time if the people around you at the stage door are rude and inconsiderate (which happened to me at the Sunset stage door), and it negatively affects your experience. Though in that instance, you can just leave (which I did).

I was lucky enough to meet her earlier in the run and she was very gracious with her time. I've been disappointed before, even when I have gotten the opportunity to meet and thank performers for their time- sometimes meeting your idols doesn't preserve their idyllic status. All that being said, Glenn, very public ally just got over a cold, I would assume she's trying to preserve herself for the rest of the run.

Well said, I have never met Glenn in person, but heard nothing but nice things regarding her relationship with fans and co-workers. It is lovely when you love a show and then you get to meet the actors and maybe get to tell them how they made you feel, and when they are gracious it's somehow magical. But not their obligation. If I were giving a performance like Glenn's in Sunset I probably wouldn't want to talk to anyone after the show. I'd be an emotional mess after going through all those emotions and I'd want to preserve my voice.

The user that slept 3 hours and still decided to "stage door" really should learn how to prioritize. I thought I was bad, but that's something I'd never do in a million years. Sleep is a basic human need that cannot be neglected, I mean I'd understand something like that for a final test or because of a nervous situation ahead, but to stage door a show? Come on gurrrl.

Muscle23ftl, I am the user who had only 3 hours sleep earlier.  In fact during my five day/four night visit I only had 16 hours of sleep during the entire time.  Yes, I need to prioritize, because i am feeling the effects now.  But staying up or getting up early was not just about stage dooring.  I was doing a variety of things which forced me to not get sleep.                                                                                                                                                      I don't know why my response to Theatrically was deleted.  There was nothing nasty or mean in it.  If you complained to the moderators about it, then that paints a pretty good picture of you for me.  I will state again, because it has been mentioned again by another poster.  REREAD my original post.  There is nothing in it that states I believe an actor owes or is obligated to stage door.  There is no need or desire for me to get schooled by any of you.  I've known about the FACTS OF LIFE way before any one of  you.  Well, maybe not before Muscle.

I doubt anyone reported your comment or the entire thing would have been deleted. When I saw it was deleted, I thought maybe you deleted it because you realized it was rude (it was) but I guess that isn't a thing. Again, this is coming from someone who LOVES the stage door experience, you were clearly pissed off that she wouldn't sign or take pictures. You "wasted" your time, even though I'm sure you got other signatures and interactions with other actors. This is what makes you sound like an entitled brat. I don't give a crap how old you are when you sound like a whiny twelve year old girl because someone didn't give you an autograph.

Pollyanna, out!

Umm, first off, this is the only user name I've ever had and if you can get out your bifocals, you would see I've been a user since 2010. Second off, I rarely post. When I do, I'm usually trying to just get some tickets off my hands, so I doubt I've been blocked by "so many." You clearly have no idea what you're talking about or you have dementia. Anyhoo, if you call me that one more time, that's going to be an issue. Even though this is a message board, you should have a little respect. Again, you're acting like you're a child, making insinuations, name calling. I called you out because you were acting entitled. I didn't call you a "bich," or accuse you of being someone else. Good lord, my profile picture is LITERALLY me. Yeah, I'm trying to hide as someone else! Good grief.

I know that is you in the picture.  You've used the same one before!?  Your first  name is Nate, which you've used before!?  Some advice from someone who has dementia.  If you are going to work a routine, learn to cover your tracks better.

My name actually is not Nate, it's Charlie Murphy. Look my up on Facebook or Instagram (n2nbaby) or Twitter (n2nbaby90) if you really want to verify my identity.

You're really pulling at strings here, dude and you're making yourself look like an idiot in the process.
