I'd like to put in a word for The Encounter. That show was incredible. If Sound Design was a thing this season, it would've easily been nominated, if it didn't win. Simon McBurney was fantastic.
This show was really forgotten about, but it was really good.
I know it received 6 Tony nominations but with it being closed and not that many people talking about it around here but I really loved Jitney, probably my favorite play of the Broadway season so far though I still have to see Sweat, Oslo and Indecent which I'll be seeing over the never couple weeks.
Significant Other deserved so much better. I don't believe in Tony "snubs," but Glick not getting a nomination will continue to annoy me for a long time.
I loved Significant Other, but I feel like it was only underrated awards-wise (Clearly, everyone loves it.) For me it's Miss Saigon, the best show I've ever seen by far.
I'm going to say The Front Page. I know, I know, it had an all-star cast and maybe didn't get the best reviews, but I haven't really seen much love for it among the broadway community or awards for that matter. I have to agree with dianamorales on the point that Significant Other was loved by so many who saw it, just not the awards.
Indecent is my favorite play of the season, and I'm sad that even though it got great reviews it doesn't seem to be selling as well as other shows. If you haven't seen it yet - go now!
I also really really loved Holiday Inn. It was just one of those shows that made me incredibly happy. I could watch Corbin Bleu tap dance all day....
Holy god. I just saw Indecent today and it was just the most stunning piece of theater. I almost couldn't catch my breath at the end.
The house was not full at all. I wish more people would go see it. It almost plays like a musical—there is a lot of music and gorgeous singing throughout. I bought my ticket through TodayTix and got front row, center, mezz.
