This news that Encores is doing "Grand Hotel" is so great; let's stay calm but is a revival in the stars? Just seeing the amazing clips and knowing the history of the show should get a lot of interest. I can't wait to hear the casting announcement.
Tommy Tune!!! I think it was Jane Krakowski's first major role; the clip from the Tonys with Michael Jeter and Brent Barrett (wouldn't it be great to see him in it?)
From what I read Me And My Girl is also a great choice.
I am extremely jazzed about this news. I've thought that Bryce Pinkham would be a fantastic Baron.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Bryce Pinkham would be sensational as the Baron. I do have a hard time imaging anyone stepping into the shoes of Jeter however. That will be a very hard role to cast.
He's very much in the Jeter mold, but Rob McClure would make a wonderful Kringelein. I also think Adrienne Warren would be terrific as Flaemmchen.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
I love GRAND HOTEL. I love everything about it. I saw it four times during it's original run. I especially loved Jane Krakowski as Flaemmchen. She was fab - that whole cast was legendary.
Would not be surprised if they got Sutton for the Jane Krakowski role. As for Jeter, I think both suggestions made so far (Chris Fitzgerald and Rob McClure) would be perfect. A younger Joel Grey would also kill it, but he's too old now to pull off a role like that.

Jane is only 6 years older than Sutton so I'd imagine they'd go with someone younger.
YES. I agree that Sutton is too old for the role and yet also not cynical enough after that... interesting production of The Wild Party. I'm already so excited for the casting announcements. And with the recent Encores productions, I feel like they're going to get the dancing right, or at least, go all out.
Mark Rylance is probably very busy, but he would be incredible as Otto. Fitzgerald would be wonderful, but he seems a bit young. It would be nice to see Chip Zien return to the role perhaps.
They never specify how old Kringelein is though, right? Just that he's dying. (And I've also definitely thought of McClure in the part.)

How about Norbert Leo Butz for Otto? I could see him bringing the pure unadulterated joy that Jeter did.
What are the chances they'll ask Jane Krakowski to come back in the Liliane Montevecchi role? I like the Bebe Neuwirth idea too.
I just love this show. Annaleigh Ashford is my pick for Flaemmchen, but the Adrienne Warren suggestion is wonderfully original.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Does Rylance sing well? I'm sure he would act it beautifully though.

EGADS does this announcement excite me. Been obsessed with this score for years on end and cannot wait to see it with a full orchestra and top-drawer talent. Carlos, those production photos gave me chills!!

"Perfection!

Ashford would also be excellent! The reason I'd love to see Warren is because of her work in Shuffle Along- her song at the top of the show felt perfectly in line with I Want to Go to Hollywood.
