Hi there.
I'll be visiting NYC in June. I need to buy a ticket to take me to the second part of my trip (A NYC-Toronto flight). As I'm staying in Weehawken, I thought something out of EWR would be very convenient, but I just saw flying out of LGA is almost half the price, yet I've heard it's quite an unreliable airport, so I'd like to hear from people who live/have visited NYC, especially given I'd have to take an Uber there with all the luggage and stuff. What do you think? Should I pay extra for the EWR one? Thanks a lot in advance.

I don't know how long the construction is slated to continue on for, but fyi LGA is undergoing a massive amount of construction right now, and so any time something happens the airport turns into a total s***show.

(this is only for pickup, though, not for drop off. at least I don't think so.)

So I would suggest doing some reading up on the expected construction in June and people's experiences with it right now before deciding.

Thank you very much! I'm looking into this.

I'd also consider that it's not going to be cheap to get from New Jersey to LaGuardia, plus a significant amount of travel time. The actual cost of the travel can quickly eat into any savings you might see from the airline tickets, plus whatever you value your time and sanity at.

Laguardia sucks and as someone who has lived here my whole life I refuse to go there unless I literally have no other choice. I've even flown out of Philly before to avoid it. How much of a difference is there in flights? I know you said half but if it's 200 bucks more to fly out of Newark I'd just do it. Like AEA above said an Uber isn't going to be cheap, depending on surge prices could be anywhere from 60-100+ bucks, plus traffic and time and the fact that laguardia is a **** hole.

Last time I was visiting NYC was a couple of weekends ago, took almost 1 hr to get from LGA to hotel on 51rst St.  The previous time, cab driver said it was better to get out and walk (10 minutes) to get to terminal because traffic was so backed up he thought we might miss our flight.

Yup, this settled it. It was about $70 more, but I'm guessing that wouldn't even cover the Uber trip to LGA. I just purchased the one out of EWR. Thank you very much for your input.
