Am I the only one who thinks the audience doesn't know she played Ernestina during the curtain call. She doesn't get the applause she deserves. I've seen it three times and there's such a dramatic difference from her ensemble costume to her Ernestina outfit and I think audiences don't recognize her. If she simply threw the yellow boa/scarf around her outfit people might remember. Maybe trivial but she's so talented and deserves the recognition in my opinion.
I agree. She needs to do her curtain call bow in her Ernestina costume. That is the only way the audience will acknowledge her and her hilarious performance. Out of that over-the-top costume and make-up, there is NO way anyone would connect Jennifer to Ernestina.
Well-expressed, BrodyFosse123. I remember talking with Jennifer after she'd just gotten her Tony nomination and she seemed really humbled by that little #PutSimardOn Twitter campaign. I got a good chuckle out of the whole thing. Can we start #GiveSimardProperCurtainCall?
I was really hoping she was going to perform last year on the Tony's. I remember the Disaster page posted a video of her digging her costume out. I thought that meant she was gonna perform. And then she didn't
It's gonna take someone close to Rudin or Midler to make that happen...they've got al the power. In all fairness they probably just haven't thought about it but we did and after seeing it 3 times now (I keep taking friends from out of town to see it cause it's so darn good) it started to really bother me. We had second row seats and I had to look twice at Jennifer in her purple chorus dress to even recognize her... I thought omg that's Jennifer and when she transforms into Ernestina it's a big transformation. Alright let's hope they read this and let's tweet and make some noise for Jennifer to get the recognition she deserves. BTW I don't know her I just saw her in disaster and thought she was amazing. I work in television...just a big fan of Broadway and I appreciate amazing talent. XO
