Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

Jesse Green's review is mostly positive, but he has some issues with the exposition and the ending of the play. I'm not surprised Brantley loved it, since he did off-Broadway, but I wish I'd seen the play he did. It's highly competent theatre, but I definitely didn't find it thrilling.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
This is the only rave for a new play from Brantley, correct? Looks like it's officially between Oslo and the Pulitzer Prize winning Sweat for Best Play.

Having seen every new play this year (except a Doll's House), my guess is we are looking at OSLO or Indecent (which were both excellent) for best new play. I would be surprised (but not disappointed) if Sweat wins.
I've been hearing an overwhelmingly positive word of mouth about Doll's House Pt. 2- and it's a fantastic production. Remains to be seen how it'll be reviewed, but I wouldn't count it out. I think the fact it's not as overtly "important" may be a strike against it.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

Hah, that is the reason I haven't bothered to see it yet. Well, that and the fact that I've yet to see the original. I'll make sure to check it out though if it was that good.
I also have to agree with you, regardless of how good it is, the aforementioned three shows all have really important messages and convey them in unique, compelling ways.

It's hard to completely count out a play you haven't seen yet. It's also ridiculous to not see it because it doesn't seem "important" enough.
A little swash, a bit of buckle - you'll love it more than bread.

Completely fair, and that is why I mentioned I hadn't seen it, so my mind could definitely be changed (or I could be completely wrong). I haven't seen it yet not because it isn't "important" but more because the subject matter didn't interest me (that and I have not seen the original and I am not sure how important that would be). Regardless, if it is that good, I will definitely add it to my list.
Definitely see it! I don't think you need to know the original that well to enjoy it. Just read the Wikipedia page before you go and you should be fine.
