Hi all, I'm coming to NY with my 15 yr old daughter over Thanksgiving week and trying to finalize show list.  We are huge theater fans so we come a couple times a year and see all the major shows for the most part.  We have one spot open that was going to go to Oh Hello but with Adam Pascal in SR, are debating between the two.  I've seen SR -daughter has not - and we could see it on tour, but I'm anxious to hear if Adam's performance would change my mind.  I still love him from Rent (mainly for that awesome rock tenor voice).  I know he just started last night but if anyone has seen him yet and can give me their impressions I would really appreciate it!!  If the touring cast is likely to be strong and Adam is just ok, it would tilt me toward Oh Hello.  Thanks!!

I thought Adam was going to perform in tour as well...

The SR tour cast hasn't been announced yet. So while that may be true, it hasn't been confirmed.

I did hear that rumor as well but as far as I know the tour cast has yet to be announced.  If I knew for sure he'd be touring we would just catch it in Chicago as we live close.  If anyone has inside scoop on the tour cast I'd be really interested in hearing it!  We are both quite curious about Oh Hello but my nostalgia for Adam may be stronger and I may regret not seeing him.  But it may just be that - nostalgia for something that was life changing 20-some years ago...sigh...I'm old.

Seth Rudetsky of Sirius XM's On Broadway channel just confirmed on his show tonight that Adam Pascal would be on the tour...

Excellent news - thanks!  We can catch him in Chicago then and still see all the shows we want to see on this trip.  Coming again in June - with a lot of tough decisions to make with everything that's opening this spring.  Thank goodness for this Board - so helpful!!

So I saw Adam last night and I personally did not love his performance.  I saw Will Chase twice in the role and thought his portrayal was just perfect.  Of course Adam's voice was off the charts amazing and honestly all I kept hearing was Roger from rent, but I felt he just wasn't that funny.  He had his moments here and there but overall it just felt kind of dry compared to Chase.  Also I know there were some questions regarding his tap dancing abilities, and it seemed like they slowed down the Bottom's gonna be on top tap sequence drastically for him.  If it is your first time going to see the show I'm sure you'll enjoy it, but having seen someone else in the role, i could see where there could be more improvement.

I've had so many people tell me they didn't think I would like this show, so I never bothered to see it until now. I went to see Adam, but I thought the show was delightful. Had a good time, laughed a LOT. Obviously I exist in my own world of bias when it comes to Adam, but I thought he was great. The part fits him well, and for whatever it's worth, I thought he was hysterical. I have always thought he is funnier than a lot of people give him credit for. I'm happy he's going on tour, because I would gladly get two-plus hours of that kind of joy again. If you like him, go see him. Especially if you're anything like me and think seeing him do something different is a lot of fun. Also, dude sounds as good as ever. It makes my nostalgic little heart warm.

I saw the show recently for the first time. Frankly, I hated just about every minute of the show itself, but I thought Pascal was quite good. He was in terrific voice the night I went as well -- sounded as good as he did when I first heard him 20 years ago.

Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Since I'm the OP on this thread and have now answered my own question by having seen the show this past weekend, I figured I would chime in.  Let me start with I adore Adam Pascal.  I can't get enough of his voice and have been listening to it for 20 years.  I saw Rent in 97 and saw his understudy (though no complaints that it was a young and incredible Norbert Leo Butz) but the soundtrack has played in my house since then - as well as Aida and Chess in Concert which I bought just for the sound of his voice in another pop/rock opera.  For me, there's no better rock tenor (who has done Broadway/musical theater) in the world.  That said, this isn't the vehicle, score or role for him.  Maybe Christian Borle set the standard for me as Shakespeare, but I wish they'd find a better fit for Adam back on Broadway because I do agree he's more than just a great voice.  Just not sure this is the show, as fun as it is.  I'd like to hear him slay another rock score.  But this old Rent-head is still thrilled to have seen him so no regrets about having done so.

I saw Something Rotten last Friday and thought Adam was awesome in the role! Altho  I have seen Christian Borle early in the run and just thought that his swagger can't be beat.  I also saw Christian in Falsettos earlier in the day in a totally different role which he nailed so maybe that had some carryover!

Does anyone on this thread know when Adam is on/off? Debating between a Wednesday or a Thursday; not sure if it will make a difference?

He's scheduled for all performances and should be there for every show, barring illness or prescheduled absence.

I want to how Adam Pascal is in something entirely different...

I think he is a pretty decent Shakespeare but I am not a fan of his choices as Toby.

He is easily my least favorite of the 4 Shakespeares I have seen (I include Eric Sciotto who played the role the month between Chase and Pascal) but still overall some reasonably high marks.

HE just seems to be playing a role where the Borle and Sciotto inhabited the role (and Chase to a slightly lesser extent)

He is so attractive. I would watch him recite The Twelve Days Of Christmas.
