Stand By Tixs for Merrily We Roll Documentary

Has anyone experienced the line for standby tickets at the New York Film Festival? I'm going to be there when the "Merrily We Roll Along" documentary is showing, but it's sold out and only standby tix are available. All the info says the standby line forms an hour before the film shows, but we all know what "an hour before" means in NYC. Any suggestions about how early to get there and/or how early they will let you start a line?
