"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Her husband, Jason Danieley, has said that fans can leave pictures of sunflowers or pictures of themselves wearing teal (the Ovarian Cancer Awareness color) on Marin's Facebook page to show support and bring cheer. Truly, miss Mazzie is a goddess. I was lucky enough to meet her at the SD of "n2n." She signed my "Passion" DVD insert and could not have been more classy or lovely.
After seeing PASSION I was curious as to whether or not Murphy's makeup changed at all during the show so I stage doored afterwards. Waiting for Murphy, I was standing next to Marin who was chatting with friends. All of a sudden a familiar looking woman who was briskly walking by accidently stepped on my foot. Marin quickly turned to me and said, "You do realize Chita Rivera just stepped on your foot?" I replied, "Well I'm glad it wasn't me who stepped on hers." She laughed and we exchanged a few words. She is an extremely sweet classywoman.
She's in my prayers and I wish her and her husband all the best.
I so appreciate revisiting her ZORBA performance ^, the clips of which I thought were taken down, since I was there for the penultimate performance and now know all she was experiencing. Prayers and light and sunflowers. We have no better singing actress in the theater. Period.
"I'm a comedian, but in my spare time, things bother me." Garry Shandling
So sad. After I opened my tweeter account and before I learned of the futility of tweeting most celebrities, I tweeted Marin that I believed her performances of "Wunderbar" and "So in Love" had never been surpassed in any other production of Kiss me, Kate. She highlighted my tweet.
But citizens must be aware that the billions upon billions of dollars donated in the fight against cancer have not all been well spent. There has been so much duplicative research performed at different institutions when cooperation would have meant quicker progress at a much lower price.
The cost of new chemotherapy drugs under patent is beyond outrageous. Almost all of the drugs fail to perform as advertised, but much of the money donated for development just ends up lining the pockets of the company executives.
And I'm a Republican. Well, not really anymore. I'm independent, as all should be.
People are starting to react on her facebook....I still am not going to choose to believe this until we hear something more official. It is so upsetting.

"Hearing from industry sources that actress #MarinMazzie has passed... one of the greats of our time... she will be missed. Rest now, friend. Your voice and your talent will live on forever..."
Also, there is a tweet from Broadway Buzz saying the same thing.
Nothing is confirmed, but both those tweets are what seem to be starting everything.

No no no NO. I refuse to believe this until we have an official statement.
