I typically find myself in NYC in September - and once again I'll be there for a work conference this September.
Curious as to why no new shows open in those first two weeks of September? Literally I am there for this conference before the new season starts - but why historically do producers hold off on previewing/opening shows in this time frame?

Every year, the early weeks in September are some of the weakest Box Office weeks on Broadway in the whole year (same with movies). The back to school, back to college, back to work, summer's over mood is a hard time for the entertainment industry, Broadway included
