Guys! I saw Guys & Dolls at the Phoenix tonight and it was WONDERFUL! Why on a Saturday night was it half sold? And heavily papered? Now I've seen everything (musicals and plays) here except Funny Girl and Aladdin (next two weeks) and this was the best production yet. Really have to give props to the leads, they were all so great. And as a New Yorker I'm usually unnecessarily harsh on everything in the West End but this was fantastic.Really the best show I've seen in months. Is it just not as big of a draw to British audiences as it is to Americans? Like the name recognition? I don't understand why it isn't doing well! Go see it!

It's been on for a while - this is its third theatre - and no massive names in it currently. Critical consensus is that it's a solid revival rather than spectacular, which may be giving people pause at West End prices. But it'll probably do well with tourist/family crowds over the summer.

I saw it at the Savoy and enjoyed it but wouldn't have gone back to see it again. However, that may now have to change with today's announcement of Rebel Wilson taking over as Miss Adelaide over the summer. The idea seems a bit surreal, but I'm curious enough to go and see her take on the character. I think that will boost attendance for a few weeks.

I forgot for a minute that it has changed theatres & casts! Honestly I thought the new/present cast was so phenomenal that I forgot about their predecessors, even though they were nominated for Oliviers!

Samantha Spiro was a really fantastic Adelaide so imagining Rebel in the same role is...interesting! I hope she does well. Spiro's Adelaide came across much older than others I've seen (& older than Spiro's actual age) so I wonder how Rebel will be directed. More importantly -- who will be her Nathan? Nigel Lindsay replaces Richard Kind but only for a month, right?

Saw this last Sunday, 15 GBP day seats. I liked Tompsett and Harrison together.

I am quite pleasantly surprised it's extending to Jan 2017. Perhaps they are going for celebrity castings starting with Rebel Wilson to boost ticket sales.

Hmm.

Rebel Wilson is not playing Miss Adelaide, she's playing Rebel Wilson. I saw the show on tour recently so it really highlighted the differences. She is funny, but I think it will upset Guys and Dolls purists.
