Sorry if the subject line is clunky!

My Mom and I were going to see SHE LOVES ME in March, but unfortunately I got sick and we couldn't use the tickets. I contacted the show and a nice person got back to me and said that if we called on the day we wanted to try to go, they would let us know if they had tickets available, and if so, we could go to the  box office  and get tickets for that performance, and would be seated just before the show starts.

We're going to try to do this when I'm visiting later this month (I live upstate) and I was wondering if anyone has ever done this - not necessarily with this show but any show - and if so, what sort of seats did you wind up getting? I don't expect to necessarily get comparable seats to what we had - orchestra - I'm just grateful we can do any kind of exchange - but was curious to know if perhaps they might give us unused house seats. Is that wishful thinking? Obviously we'll take any two seats they offer - we both really want to see this and were so disappointed that we couldn't go in March.

The person I contacted said that there would probably be more availability during the week so we'll see if we can do that.

What you're referring to is called post-dating, which I didn't even know about until I started reading this forum. I have done it once, for Misery, with telecharge. The box office was SUPER nice and he got me a great center orchestra seat that was just as good as my original seat. He did laugh and note that people aren't usually so lucky. It just depends on what seats are available.

How nice and helpful the box office people are also varies widely by theater...

In any event, if you search for post-dating in the subject line, there's a thread from awhile back. Not sure if it dealt with roundabout.

I actually post-dated tickets for She Loves Me not long ago and had a great experience!

I got sick in February and had to miss the show. I called Roundabout on a Saturday morning a couple of weeks afterward and was told there were no spots available that day for general admission. So I tried another Saturday and was told yes. We got to the theater as usual and went to the box office. We were given numbered slips and were told to wait in the back of the orchestra. There were five of us that night who were doing general admission.

We had to wait until everyone was seated, and then the usher beckoned for us. We ended up with great seats in the center orchestra! My own seats had been in the mezzanine. I think the ushers just try to get you in the easiest spot available, because there's not a lot of time. Be sure to tell the usher that you want to sit together.

The only strange part is that an usher came to get us at intermission and told us to wait in the back of the theater again. I guess that's in case the rightful owner of the seats showed up. Then, at the end of the intermission, we were told to go back to where we had been sitting.

Because you can go during the week, I bet you'll have no trouble getting in.

It's a great show and I was very pleased that Roundabout allowed us to post-date our tickets.

Actually, it's called "past date".

Thanks! That's very helpful, and great to know what to expect. Also good to know the correct term. I'll look for that thread.

Yeah search past dated. Not post dated. :) Sorry
