We know Eva and Jon Jon are starring in the 2017 revival. Have the supporting actors/actresses (i.e., Chris, John, Ellen, Gigi) been cast? Auditions were a few months ago.
I see that in addition to Eva, Jon Jon and many others, Jeremy Jordan is lined-up to perform in tomorrow night's The New York Pops 33rd birthday gala, which will celebrate the collaborations of Boubil and Schonberg. Hope he performs Why God, Why? I would be even more excited to see the broadway revival if he plays Chris.
I was 30 minutes late... The time on my google calendar was wrong, so, no excuse, I was punished by missing my all-time favorite numbers from Miss Saigon: The Heat Is On, The Movie in My Mind, I'd Give My Life for You... But all that followed...just wow! Jeremy Jordan killed it as Chris singing Why God Why! He also played a mind-blowing Marius in the Les Miz section of the concert. I'm still trying to process how hard it hit me when Stephanie J. Block, Patti LuPone, and Lea Salonga belted I Dreamed a Dream. You also don't get to hear at Imperial the full version of Little People that was cut to a snippet in English language productions, let alone sung by children of Ronald McDonald House new York, where they have a program to help children with disabilities learn and enjoy music. Full of tears by then. On My Own is awesome, but hearing it in French by the original Cosette in the original French production along with Lea Salonga was a next-to-none experience. Although I missed the beginning, everything coming after it that I was lucky to witness and hear made it a wonderful night.

"Thanks Dancingthrulife2 for checking-in. Although I'm so happy you were able to see the bulk of the gala, I too feel bad that you missed the start. BUT! You got to hear Jeremy sing Why God, Why! Amazing! What a night! Do you know who sang Movie in My Mind? Thanks again.
Just got my phone charging, but let me add to Dancing's comments, which were spot on. Lea and Eva both did Movie in my mind. And Terrence Mann was a surprise guest as the Engineer doing The American Dream. If I could dream cast Miss Saigon, this was probably it!
What a glorious evening! The only way I can describe it is that it was like I had died and my ears went to heaven.
To answer the above question: "The Movie In My Mind" was a duet between Lea Salonga and Eva Nobelzada, the current London Miss Saigon.
There's so much to say... Jeremy Jordan was incredible and heartbreaking singing "Why God Why." Maybe if we all wished so very hard enough, he'll get cast as Chris. (UGH, I know it won't happen but I WISH!)
Terrence Mann did an incredible and entertaining "The American Dream" as a surprise guest (I think he replaced Keala Settle last minute, since she's listed in the playbill).
Jesse Tyler Ferguson did a hilarious rendition of "Master of the House" with Jeremy playing a drunken tavern-goer. It was a riot. And Patti LuPone is probably the most regal Mdme Thenardier I've ever heard.
Norm Lewis' "Stars".... just, ugh! Can't even!
I can go on forever!
I felt chills and pins/needles the whole show and had to fight the urge to standing-O at the end of each performance. XD
It was a pretty good evening. Bummed though that none of the love duets made it to the concert. Eva Noblezada sounds much healthier than when I saw her in London in November, though I'm still not a fan of the AMERICAN IDOL-esque singing she uses.
It was a wonderful show. My daughter was one of the Camp Broadway Kids that had a brief appearance. It was such a special night for us to see her be part of this event.
We only came because she was participating but it was a really fabulous night all around.
The concert was like a gift from God. I don't even know how to describe it. All of my favorite music sung by A-list, first string original stars and equivalents! It was unbelievable! Just unbelievable!!!!
Highlights for me were:
- Jeremy Jordan singing Why God... best performance of the night, he stole the show, he proved to the haters why he's famous. This was the best performance of Why God probably... ever.
- 4 Jean Val Jeans singing BRING HIM HOME.... holy crap this shook the rafters... I was afraid the roof might cave in
- Norm Lewis doing Stars
- Eva N singing I'd Give my life for you.... she really is the real deal... WOW!
I definitely could have used more Lea... I could have listened to only lea all night, and she was underused... didn't even get her own song... just a bunch of little things here and there. But alas... it was amazing even being in the same room as these composers!!!! My life is complete. :) Can't wait for this revival of Miss Saigon...
Actually Marie Zamora and Lea Salonga both sang "On My Own / Mon Histoire," only that Marie did it in French and Lea did in English, and they both ended the song with "Toute seule dans mon histoire." Not sure why theatermania only credits Lea.
