So before the "She Loves Me" revival Laura Benanti had been away from Broadway for 5 long years AND seeing that "She Loves Me" will be closing on July 10, I say that we (the fans) demand that she stay on the Great White Way! So this thread is so all of us to list our dreamcast for Laura. Roles we've always wanted to see her play, etc. I'll start:
The Baker's Wife in "Into the Woods" (She's already been Cinderella so maybe it could be a nice return to the musical)
Marian Paroo in "The Music Man" (She even said she'd like to do it with Zachary Levi...)
Anna in "The King and I" (maybe she could replace Marin Mazzie if/when she leaves)
Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady" (If not Broadway, then maybe NBC could do it Live! next year)
Sally Bowles in "Cabaret" (I know the revival just closed but I've always wondered what her take on the character would be)
Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" (I know Belle supposed to be younger but I seriously think Laura could do it!)
I'd love to see what she'd do with Nora in Doll's House. As far as musicals roles that have yet to be mentioned, Francesca in the Bridges of Madison County. I'm also down with her doing literally anything in the Sondheim canon.
