And to everyone's surprise, season 12's p.i.t.a Ken has somehow become a legitimate designer.
Sam is the one I'd like to see go.

One night the previews clip showed Ken having a hissy fit and storming off again. I keep waiting for that to happen.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Sam is adorable. He's a good designer. He's just not very confident in his own abilities, hence asking for everybody else's opinion and making them dislike him. I think the other designers are too hard on him. If they think Sam's designs aren't his own, they should stop offering help.
The most recent challenge was BRILLIANT. I don't recall it being implemented before. It forced the designers out of their comfort zones and completely threw off a couple of them. And a few were finally forced to work with vibrant colors and fabrics that they've previously avoided like the plague. I suspect that they will only grow as designers from the experience.
That said, the All-Stars competition is so rigged. I agree with the most recent decision but the setup was so transparent. As soon as Zanna said "you've only been safe so far...", I instantly starting guessing which designer would be sacrificed for the greater good. By now, the one-trick ponies are sort of obvious.

Is that rigged or just that they already know the outcome they are building to with each story by the time they are editing it? They probably have enough footage and contestant sass to point it in any direction they want... no?

^This. I'd like to see PR feature nothing but previous regular season winners just once. Perhaps, that would be a nice way to wrap up the series after last season's debacle of a finale. I know scores of fans who have vowed to not return next season.
Kini has really turned into a bitter bitch and he needs to focus on his own work rather than festering on petty nonsense. Too bad Kini apparently couldn't let it go and his claim of "helping" Sam with his look, turned into "making the top" to (according to online gossip about a contestant Twitter bitchfest against Sam during the airing of the episode) making Sam's entire look. 1) It was a team challenge, so making part of a teammate's look, whether you get credit for it on the runway or not, is not unique to the show or most contestants who have participated on it. 2) Kini agreed to construct part of Sam's look for the sake of the team. 3) If Kini wanted credit for it during judging, he could have said something. 4) The producers would never have let anyone get away with presenting a look on the runway as their own that another contestant had entirely made.
Meanwhile, I hated Kini's denim dress/butterfly costume thing (why would someone say they could picture a girl wearing it to a tea party if you can't sit down in it?) and Layana's dress was actually one of my favorites.

yah, I hated that denim thing. It was totally "back heavy" and hideous. From the front you saw a denim dress, from the back, it was the dragon from Game of Thrones.
I'm caught up now. After Ep 10 they're down to 5 designers. The remaining ladies are top-flight designers with signature aesthetics. I'm interested in seeing their lines. The remaining guys are the bitchiest men I've ever witnessed on TV along with the Russian designer Sandro Masmanidi from one of the regular seasons. Next week the work room will not be big enough for the three of them. Neither is as talented as he's convinced himself that he is. Thank goodness Zac Posen called out one of them in Ep 10.
Guess what Sandro's been up to lately? I promise it's juicy. Deets right here.
Kini's pants were ATROCIOUS. I don't know what the judges saw in them other than a Kardashian costume. And I don't know why Ken wasn't sent home. Boring and poorly made. The pants were not only too long, but the camera clearly showed that they were coming apart around the hem. If Sam had removed the beauty queen sash, I think he might have won this week.

My question is why wasn't Ken eliminated when he left the building the other week? Isn't that a violation of pretty much any reality competition show's rules?

Remember "Keith", the cute guy who was kicked off in Season 3 or 4? He was caught with pattern books among his luggage, but the books were merely confiscated.
At the time, they said he was actually kicked off the show for going AWOL for part of a non-competition day. Just like Ken. I assume the producers didn't want to lose another contestant when they have X shows to fill, but a confrontation and disqualification of Ken would have been a lot more interesting than yet another boring runway elimination.

Am I misremembering or was he nice and fun the first time around? Not sure what happened or what prompted his deal with Sam, but it's getting pretty tired. He's hitting RuPaul Drag Race levels of shade. If you want to hate on Sam, maybe make nicer clothes than him? Easier path.
