Hey, looking for a song to perform at our mid year show. Its like a variety show so it can be anything, as long as its in the style of music theatre! There are 4 of us but song can be edited if originally for more or less people. All very strong singers.
Now that the sheet music is out, the Schuyler sisters.

Moscow: 3 singers, amazing song with strong vocals, upbeat
Sonya & Nattasha: 2 singers, another great song, slower, dramatic
You could do stuff from Wicked, but please don't for the sake of humanity
But what I think you should really do is choose a song that all of you love and portion it up. 4 is an awkward number and this would be the easiest way to get around it. Suggestions if you do that:
Meadowlark or Chanson from The Baker's Wife
Burn from Hamilton
Good luck, let us know what you choose.
I appoligise for any spelling mistakes. I may be on my mobile. Clumsy fingers and small little touchscreen keys don't mixx. I try to spellcheck, but I may miss something.
How old are you? Some of these songs being suggested do not seem that appropriate for say a high school variety show. Also, what are you trying to do? Do you want to really show off your voices? Do you want to do a fun, comedic number?
If you did want to do Wicked, splitting up What Is This Feeling could be fun and it would work decently out of context.
Something from Legally Blonde could also work but it's going to be harder to divide most of those songs evenly. Maybe "Positive" would work.
"Candy Store" from Heathers is a little racy but it wouldn't take much to make it work for 4 people.
If you do want to split up a song, "The Life of the Party" from Lippa's Wild Party could work nicely.
It could also be nice to do a medley on the same theme if you're not concerned with having harmonies or anything like that. You could each do a verse and chorus or something like that so it's like the songs are in conversation. For example "Waiting for Life" from Once On This Island/"Some People" from Gypsy/"Like Other Girls" from Daddy Long Legs/"Not For The Life of Me" from Thoroughly Modern Millie.
I loved this idea and we learnt the song. Unfortunately we were later told that they had already used this number two years ago! we did 'In the Same Boat 1' from Curtains instead, extended it and turned it into a tap number also
Mama who bore me was our pick and we learnt the song only to be told they had done it two years earlier so we couldn't do it again. We did 'In the Same Boat 1' from Curtains instead, extended it and turned it into a tap number also
Sometimes people post a thread asking for suggestions regarding a topic, but then don't follow up to say what they ultimately chose, or the results of their choice.
Thank you for following through! It's nice to hear about your success! (I think you also made those who suggested the song feel good about responding to your post)
