With the broadcast is just two months away, FOX has just released the show's first poster. So far, I am liking what I'm seeing. I think the three of them look great and I love the logo. From what I can see, I am extremely excited about this broadcast. I really do enjoy NBC's productions and so I am looking forward to see how FOX can handle it.

Minor quibble, but what happened to the car's window in the logo? The lettering looks a bit off as well. But that picture looks great!

They look too old to be in high school. They should cast them more age-appropriate like the movie...

^ huh? Travolta was 24 for the movie, Olivia NJ was 30, and Stockard was 34

Aoaron is 32, Vanessa is 27, Julianne is 27.

The entire cast of the movie was so much older than they should have been. I rewatched it the other night, and it's kind of hilarious. Sonny looks like he should be playing someone's father.

I agree, but this new cast is almost the same age level as the original film cast. Ages 27-32.

And they look so much younger! "Grease" is basically a 50's fantasy. I don't think everything needs to be so literal or true-to-life. It's a heightened reality, not a documentary of 1950's youth. This particular cast looks fine. "Grease" has never really been cast with actual teenagers. Carole Demas was 32 years old, Barry Bostwick was 27 and Adrienne Barbeau was 27 when they originated their roles on Broadway.

Their apparent age matters much less on Broadway than it does on TV or film, since you can't see their faces as well. How old was Marissa Winokur when she played Tracy on Broadway? That obviously wouldn't have worked on film.

I personally don't care too much about the age discrepancy.A lot of the girls who hung around with the Rizzos  in school looked older than teenagers in real life.

the original Grease on broadway was my first musical. I loved it so much that I went several times, taking a relative or friend each time. nI loved the show so much and wanted to share it! The tickets were about $10 (or maybe $20?)

I presume the adaptation has transported them from high school to night school.

You'd think people interested in theatre would come up with better jokes regarding age. Guess not.

So did the film actors.

EDIT: I see Jane already called you out on your "joke".

I would have actually really preferred that they stage a producton of 'Grease 2'.  A company in London recently put on a production of the sequel show and released an album.  The soundtrack for 'Grease 2' is so much better!!!

I obviously can't speak to the actual production, but it reeeeeeeally seems strange to me that they're using the movie's costumes and hair in all the promotional materials. I mean, I know the movie is beloved and has wide appeal and people tend to always copy things like that in their local productions, but I'd like to think a professional high-profile costume designer and director would think more than "People like it, so just do the movie!"

I've been led to believe that they are doing the movie, no shame or hiding it. And the imitation costumery so far supports that. It's why I have little interest in this broadcast.
