I am confused. I was expecting to learn a little bit more concrete news, like maybe about a theater or something. I feel like I've been seeing "Saigon to return to Broadway" headlines for eons now.
Interesting that it will be a limited run, though.
We at least have dates though. The part that interested me was the limited engagement before touring detail. It's not expected to arrive for over a year, so I'm not surprised that there isn't a concrete theater announced yet.
I find it quite amazing that this is supposed to be a limited run, but my guess is the show is going into the Imperial or the Broadway. Macintosh IMO wants to be able to have Les Miserables, Phantom and Miss Saigon all simultaneously running on Broadway for a PR stunt, but Les Miz is barely staying a float. Then again he is the show's sole producer and has the money to keep it going. If I had to guess though he is holding out to see how Fiddler does, as all the revivals have lasted from 2-20 months. If Fiddler is strong through next September I expect Macintosh to announce Les Miz closing in Jan 2017 to make way for Miss Saigon. If Fiddler doesn't Miss Saigon will go into the Broadway and Les Miz will close in June of 2017, so all three productions can be simultaneously running for a few months.
It will be going into the Broadway, as it's a limited engagement Cameron wants as big theatre possible. If Fiddler does last until January 2017 it has done extremely well, given it's in a massive theatre, with no box office stars and there has been a Broadway revival in the last decade.
yeah, the Fiddler revival will likely only last a year, if that. I guess they're counting on LES MIZ running through the end of 2016. If the SAIGON tour isn't launching until Aug/Sept. 2017, the Broadway production could possibly extend a few months into June/July. I still say this takes the Imperial.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
I'm really glad that this production us transferring because it it so beautiful and Eva and Jon Jon are fantastic! I am however a little disappointed that this is a limited run and that not as many people will have the chance to experience. Anyways, all the best and I'll be sitting here waiting for them to announce an extension!!

yeah, it's basically three years away. SAIGON will run on Broadway from March 2017 - January 2018 with extensions available since the tour won't start until Aug/Sept. 2018. Sorry, just got the years wrong.
