In addition to having an offense that is basically non existent, it now appears David Wright may be done for a good part of this season. Just heard on the news, he will be sidelined with what may be spinal stenosis. They are telling everyone they will rest him for a week. Apparently they think the fans are fools thinking this will be ok in a week. It is a chronic condition
Will someone tell me why a team notoriously stingy with money would give anyone ( at all) with a history of back problems an 8 YEAR CONTRACT. This is lunacy. Instead of having that $ 20 million extra per year to spend on productive players, they have basically thrown that money down a rathole. Doubt Wright will play this year & if he ever plays again, he will be a shell of what he used to be. Hopefully, they can do something re a buyout rather than taking a $ 20 million dollar hit for the next 5 years
Oh well, there is always next year. Watching paint dry would be more exciting than watching the Mets at bat. I feel sorry for the pitchers.
to bob sorry you feel that way many here will burn you alive if you disagree with them about a show or a sports team
The wife and I used to care about such things but no more. If the Mets win we do not care if the Mets lose it's all that matters and I come on here and give my opinion which some people are against.
To each his own I would rather block you then engage in dialogue
unfortunately I have you blocked but a friend told me what you said and I no doubt made the right choice to block you throwing feces is worse than SNL's ISIS commercial we will never watch that show again no more
Jane, I have no idea what you are saying but I can guess
Wake up & smell the coffee. The Mets have been the most mismanaged team in baseball both on the field & off. The Wright story is splashed over all the papers. The guys running this team are the gang that couldn't shoot straight .
No one wants them to succeed more than me but I am a realist. The manager Collins may be the worst in Mets history. The team needs to be sold first off. . They can than start rebuilding the team and actually spend money on quality free agents & not take the band aid approaches they have in the past.
Giving an 8 year contract to any player is total insanity . To give it to a guy with a history of back problems is beyond idiocy. How many players like Matt Harvey will want to stay with a team where they almost have to pitch a shutout every time they step on the mound to have a shot at winning? This Wright debacle will have far reaching consequences. Maybe this will get a fed up fan base to demand change. I would love to see Citi field but to waste time going to see a team in this state is not in the cards.
You can rip me all you want but it will not change reality . The Mets are like the Titanic. They are going down and nothing can stop the descent. The stats the players will have at the end of the season will be embarrassingly bad.
They were worried his health would not hold up. He has stayed healthy but all of a sudden a hitting machine throughout his career is almost an automatic out these days as are most of the players in the lineup. Forget this year & see what they can salvage for next year. Best case is they collect insurance on Wright, give him a buyout & move on.
He LOVES shows that are underdogs (not selling tickets and/or horribly reviewed) but hates teams that are underdogs. This is what gives him pleasure. Fork a stick in him.
Ohhh, look at that puppy. He's so cute. He's wagging his tale and rolling over. Oh, he won't stop licking my face. He's adorable. I think I'll adopt him.
Roxy:
You don't know where that dog has been and God knows what germs are on that tongue and what diseases he's carrying. Than you got to feed him and he eats and eats and eats. Will probably get fat and cost a fortune in vet bills. He'll than die and you will have to spend money to bury him cause unlike goldfish, he's too big to flush down the toilet. And you'll have spent thousands for a dead dog you can't play with. You can rip me if you want but I think it's lunacy to spend thousands of dollars on a dead dog. You knew he would eventually die but spent thousands on him anyway. It's total insanity. I'd rather watch paint dry then spend money on a dog that's going to die eventually. Cue the brickbats.
I'm currently doing my doctoral dissertation on the applications of Roxyism to non theatrical and sports issues and settings. There's going to be a chapter on Roxy's view of nonlinear geometry that, once published, will revolutionize Roxy critique forever.
Are you related to the original NAMO? Heaven forbid . One is enough
For laughs, I started to read one of the Fishermans comments. Now I see why I have him blocked. Bob you outdid yourself in low class comments but I would expect nothing less from you.
I'm a different Namo. It's a good thing you read what people write. It makes you your comments more informed then when you guess what people wrote and comment on that. You seem like a great guy so it must be hard.
"For laughs, I started to read one of the Fishermans comments. Now I see why I have him blocked. Bob you outdid yourself in low class comments but I would expect nothing less from you."
Thanks Roxy. That's a compliment from you. I tailor the class of my comments to the class of my subject so it all kind of works out.
But wait, if you're saying "Now I see why I have him blocked." it means you blocked me but didn't know why until now??? It was just a random thing, you had to hit your quota and my number came up or it was my turn? And wait again... if I am blocked, how could you have read it? Are you saying you went to the trouble of unblocking me just to read it and then reblocked me? Damn, if I knew there was that window, I would have thrown so much more through it. My pet Chimpanzee and I used to care whether you read my comments but no more. We can take it or leave it and somehow we will survive. Cue the brickbats... or my Chimpanzee throwing feces. I can't remember which we agreed to.
Still, to go to all the trouble to respond only vaguely after "not" reading the "blocked" person's post. It must be a little like a young actor playing Helen Keller trying desperately to not make eye contact with anybody.
