Hi! Does anyone know if Playbill is planning on doing the rainbow banners on the June Playbills? I have a bunch from last year and I really love them, so I'm hoping they do it again this year! Every spring/summer, I write to the new shows (and shows with major cast changes), and I am considering waiting to send them out until the end of the month rather than next week if it means there will be rainbow Playbills.
Yes, Playbill just recently announced that they will be producing rainbow playbills for one month starting June as they did last year. From the sounds of it, it will become an annual thing.
"Mostly, I loved the size of these people's emotions. Nobody has emotions this size anymore. Outsized emotions. Operatic emotions. Kushemski and Vanda are like Tristan and Isolde, they're Paolo and Francesca. Nobody's in total thrall like this anymore. Nobody's overcome by passion like this, or goes through this kind of rage." I cannot find the thread with all the 2014-2015 Playbills but I wanted to say that the pride Playbills for Fun Home and An American in Paris look particularly good with the bright colors in both designs.
Just bouncing off of this thread but if anyone is seeing a show with Pride Playbills anytime soon and wants to pick up an extra for me, I would be so grateful! I love collecting playbills and want to get as many as possible. I would of course pay for shipping and a little bit extra for the help. If you want to help me out, email me at eskull19@yahoo.com Thank you!
I'll be making rounds to see if I can sneak a few of these playbills from each show. I can't wait to get some from The Audience since the entire playbill will be in color, too.

The Audience cover is still black and white, as are the other shows that have elected to not pay for the color cover
There was a graphic image floating around social media by the Playbill designer who does the Pride Playbills, if I'm not mistaken, that displayed all the Pride Playbills for 2015 in FULL color, including the production artwork. Unfortunately, that was just a promotional poster and not the case for the actual Playbills. Those that are black & white are still black & white this month, but ALL have a rainbow banner as far as I'm concerned.
I'm that graphic designer. I chose to put them in color for the poster to make them pop. I hope you guys all like the issue - I really enjoyed putting it together.
When are they distributing the Pride playbills? I'm at the June 2nd evening performance of Curious Incident right NOW and they're still giving out the regular playbill, not the Pride playbill? It's a little disappointing because I scheduled to go to the show today for the Pride playbill.

^ You could probably ask an usher or something for one (I did that when On the Town was giving out black and white ones-- just asked for a color). What happens is they end to give out all they have an then cut open the new bundles. So they are probably still handing out the May But an usher or house manager may be able to retrieve a June one for you (provided they've been delivered). Good luck

From what I could tell, An American in Paris, The Visit, Matilda, and The Audience distributed pride playbills last night. Hedwig, Curious Incident, Airline Highway, Something Rotten, The Lion King, Finding Neverland, Wolf Hall, Book of Mormon, Jersey Boys, Hand To God, and Skylight (all as of today's matinees) are still not distributing pride playbills.

Interesting to note that, according to Playbill Vault, FINDING NEVERLAND has now changed its June (Pride) Playbill to black & white. Did not expect that from them, especially so soon.
