I live in NYC, and was fortunate enough to get to spend three days seeing 4 shows last week, and had such a great time.
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown...While I enjoyed the show, I was really sad to miss Tamsin. I know her absence was announced, but it had not been announced when I bought my ticket so I didn't know she was out until I got into the theater. Still, I loved this on Broadway, and I think the West End production fixes a lot of issues the Broadway version had. Tamin's understudy was excellent, and I loved Haydn Gwynne. She plays the part maybe even crazier than Patti Lupone did on Broadway. Overall, I think the simpler staging get's to the heart of the piece a lot better. Most importantly, I think everyone is having a lot more fun. Sherri Renee Scott was so deathly serious and I think that really hurt the show on Broadway. Loved the new songs, and the new finale.
Cats. I had seen a scaled down version in Toronto, but it was nice to see a full, lavish production. I still think the show is so strange, but it is an incredible piece of dance and spectacle. Kerry Ellis was fantastic.
Gypsy. Probably the best show I saw on my trip, and maybe one of the best performances I have seen in my life. Imelda Staunton is such a commanding force. She has a very strong voice, and I may actually have preferred this production to the last Broadway Revival. It is such a fantastic show, and this production is truly amazing.
Clarence Darrow at the Old Vic. I was lucky enough to snag a (very expensive) ticket to Kevin Spacey's final performance at the Old Vic, and I am so glad I did. He gave an incredible performance, and I really became captivated in the character. It is thrilling to watch a great actor command a room like that. His speech at the end summing up 12 years at the Old Vic was very moving.
Overall it was a fantastic three days in London and I can't wait to return!
Great discount on theatre & musicals, definitely worth a look before you buy elsewhere. Always ends up being cheaper than competitors and they have amazing customer service. :)
Nick, your trolling would be better if you actually added something to the conversation first. But, in any event, I did just try your site for Book Of Mormon on June 18 - and found that the official site had better seats for less than the site you are promoting was offering. Indeed, as I found in London, you could get better prices by going to the box office than any "discount" booth or online service.
