When I buy tickets at the TKTS booth, do they charge for concierge fees rather than bringing a discount code to the box office and not getting any fees?
I'm not sure what you're asking. What do you consider a concierge fee?
The TKTS booth charges $4.50 fee per ticket. When you buy from them, they give you the actual ticket so the theater box office isn't involved.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.
I believe that TKTS charges $4.50 a ticket, as stated above.
I assume that the OP meant a discount code from TheatreMania (or wherever) to be used at the Box Office.
The TheatreMania, etc., discount codes are more typically something like 30% whereas TKTS is often 40-50% so that might more than make up for the TKTS fee. Also, TKTS might have better seats.
Typcially, TKTS comes out a bit cheaper than discounts IF there are discounts for the top priced tickets.
TKTS HAS to give you the best tickets available to them as you buy them. So you'll often get better seats than through discount. But if you're happy to sit in the back or mezzanine in a cheaper prize range you'll be better off with a discount.
With the TKTS you can only buy on the day, while discounts let you buy in advance.
So there are your pros and cons. I've done both, although TKTS more frequently this season as I felt most discounts were "only" 30%, last year I had quite a few that were 40%...
Thank you everyone for the answers! I am going in to the city today but just found out that my train does not get in until 12:45. Does anybody think that I will have time to get to TKTS and get tickets for a matinee if i get there around 1:15?
It's possible that you'll be able to get a ticket for a matinee if you get there at 1:15, but I highly doubt that. The line usually takes much longer that 45 minutes to get through.
Yes, most likely. But I'd head directly to the box office.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I haven't done it for matinees, but I bought tickets for 8pm shows around 7:15 and it's always just been a 5-10 minute wait around that time and you still get tickets for most shows.
