I have not seen Beautiful, but I want to! I would normally shoot for a big name for the lead in movie's like this, but in the role of Carole, Jessie Mueller is the ONLY choice! The entire marketing campaign could center around introducing this new star!
The rest of the cast could be filled with already big names...
I saw that Jessie "hopes to audition" for the movie adaptation of Beautiful. I think that's ridiculous. They should offer the film to her, she's the only smart choice.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
^Though it would probably be a good idea to screen test her just to see how she does on camera. In fact, I'd be really interested in seeing how Jessie would translate into a screen actress.
My parents enjoy, but don't follow musicals, but I can promise they would see Beautiful as a movie, no matter who was in it, as they have a deep respect of Carole King, as do, I think, a lot of people, so I think this would be once chance where they could get away with using someone like Jessie in the lead role, and sprinkle more well known names around her. She was just so stunning in that show, and you could really tell how connected she was, it would be a shame if she didn't get the chance to play in the movie as well.
Yes, they'll want names in the cast, but the supporting cast is perfect for that. I love that Tom Hanks' company is producing it. I love "That Thing You Do!"
Also, I think they'll have to work on Jessie's Brooklyn accent if she is to do the film. It wasn't that strong. I saw a clip from the West End's Beautiful and Katie Brayben is nailing the accent.
Yeah, this one's going to take a while, but I'll be there opening night. I just loved the show and Mueller's performance was one of my favorites. So powerful, so honest, so electrifying, a true star turn. I'd love to see her in the role. But I would be open to seeing a star in it as long as she can rival Mueller's brilliance.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
I know Jessie originated the role and all but I think Abby mueller is much stronger in the role.
In our millions, in our billions, we are most powerful when we stand together. TW4C unwaveringly joins the worldwide masses, for we know our liberation is inseparably bound.
