I was just going to ask the same thing! I loved it on Broadway, but that was mostly because of Jessie Mueller, not because of the show. It's a decent book and of course the music is wonderful, but it really all rides on the lead performance. Hence why I'm eager for people's reviews to start coming in before I buy a ticket!

(Also, any word on day seats?)

I was at the first preview last night and I have to say the show is even better than it is on broadway! I absolutely adored Jessie as Carole and Katie is even better! To be honest, there isn't a single weak link in the cast. There were a few little accidents with some of the smaller props last night but those could happen at anytime. Ian McIntosh (Barry) is definitely a scene stealer, he got some of the biggest laughs of the night.

The audience last night seemed to love it so it looks like it could last a while over here.

Apparently they aren't selling day seats for the forseeable future but it is worth popping to the box office to see if they have any tickets as there was the odd empty seat in the upper circle last night.

I certainly wasn't expecting them to be at the standard they were for the first preview!

Are there any major alterations to the set/costumes?

It appears from those pictures that the floor has a checkered pattern on it... the Broadway version does not have that.

I came to this thread to see other's opinions but thought I would finally register to voice my own.

We went to Saturday's matinee - not when Tom Cruise was in attendance sadly - hehe.

Front row centre.

I loved every second, the chemistry between Morissey and Brayben in the first act was incredible. My friend was quick to point out at the interval, he's the gay one from Holby and adding 'he's MUCH better in this'.

I was concerned when I heard that Brayben was cast, an unknown (to me at least), but as Carole stated in an interview recently she really is the essence of King. She was note perfect, emotive, humble and all around fantastic. I'm expecting incredible reviews next week when press hits.

Both Cynthia and Barry were excellent, Barry in particular - a surprisingly strong voice and cute too.

Glynis Barber (yes, her from Dempsey and Makepeace!) had great comic delivery and poise.

The theatre was packed and the cast of course received a standing ovation.

London needs a new high quality long running show and I hope this might be it. I'd love to go again.

As an elderly couple said behind us - that was one of the best shows I've ever seen and I would have to agree. Beautiful London

[One minor point, the Little Eva lead-vocal felt pre-recorded.]

Overall, the reviews have been similar to the reviews for the Broadway production.

Are there day seats for this? If so how is the wait?
