It seems likely that Made in Dagenham will close at the end of its booking period, end of March 2015. The show may extend a few weeks. Lots of talk about it closing earlier but they are hoping for enough steam to see them thru to the end of Gemma's contract and its first booking period.

The Adelphi is being looked for a Summer opening of Kinky Boots or Motown but Webber may have sights on Cats transfering for an open ended season... Outsider chances on Newsies and Sleepless in Seatle.

Kinky Boots I imagine would want to secure the Adelphi if they want to open Summer 2015 since the Palace is unavailable due to the Commitments extending.

My hope would be for Cats (I know!)

Scott Garnham tweeted a newspaper article (don't know which paper) which states that the show is being extended. The head honchos of the show contacted the paper to say the theatre is averaging at a "healthy 70 per cent capacity".

I'm sick of seeing British musicals which aren't good enough!

70% occupancy is different to turning a profit

I don't really understand why people get so fixated on what nationality musicals are, I don't care where they originate from as long as they are good

Well you might not care but the people who are writers of musicsls in this country who are working their arses off yet so little UK musicals can find producers etc now because so many keep closing early might disagree.

But these shows are not failing because they are British, its because they simply arnt good enough, not ready yet or dont appeal to the mass commercial market that the West End is.

And I dont subscribe to the 'we must support it because its British' ideal, ill support it if its good regardless of where the creative team come from

And the same thing is happening on the other side of the Atlantic

The desperate rummaging around for any film to adapt is providing diminishing returns.

Yet I know of a certain major producer whose scouts will only look at new musicals that came from movie crossovers.

Its weird that that is the case as there seems to be a greater number that fail than succeed.

Kinky Boots is going into the Adelphi but not until August.

Now that Dagenham has officially got its notice wonder what they'll put in before Kinky Boots.

Not 100% confirmed but it is closing on 21st or 28th March 2015...

Beyond Bollywood that was going into The Palladium may end up at The Adelphi prior to Kinky Boots from August instead of opening at The Palladium which will allow CATS to continue through to September. The Palladium has another show lined up for Autumn/Winter which may block Aladdin's plans to open Spring 2016, but apparently that show also has another venue for Spring/Summer 2016.

Nothing is official yet however...

So Aladdin is still on?

I imagine Aladdin will go to either Drury Lane or Dominion if they don't go into the Palladium.

Visiting London and decided to see this. For some reason my expectations erent very high, but I really enjoyed this show. Lots of laughs, some good music. The day seats at 25 pounds are a good deal.

Baz has mentioned that Motown is going to the Palladium while Aladdin is going to the Dominion. I think the Palladium is far too big for Motown but I guess the music is popular enough for it to sustain a decent run.

Made in Dagenham was overall a "good" musical...but good musicals don't last long these days!
