Somebody posted on my FB page a forum post that says Delfont Mackintosh theatres are going to close the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London to refurbish it and then bringing back MARY POPPINS is this true??

wrong theatre, its the Victoria Palace and its rumoured that Mary Poppins will reopen it after the refurb. Which is possible as Mary Poppins is due to go back on tour 2016 ish.

I wonder if this refurbished was forced on Delfont Mackintosh theatres, as there is big rebuilding projects happening around the Victoria Palace? So I wonder if all these building work that access to the theatre is impossible and with Billy Elliot running out of steam, that it was decided to seize the opportunity and refurbish?

The refurbishment/redevelopment of the VP has been on the cards long before Delfont Mackintosh acquired it but they've been waiting for both the redevelopment of Victoria Station to be nearer completion and also for Billy Elliot to complete its run before start. I think Cameron Mackintosh mentioned Autumn 2016 as the start date of the redevelopment but it wouldn't be a surprise if it is brought forward.
