Has anyone tried this before? The concept sounds really neat: they lock you in a room and you have 60 minutes to try and solve a puzzle with clues they provide to figure out the way out of the room.
We have one here in Orlando that's pretty new, but I know there's also one in NYC (along with DC and Miami). I was wondering if anyone had gone to one before and what their experiences might have been (without giving it away). Is it worth the $30 price tag? Are the puzzles challenging but solvable?
I love Escape the Room! We've gone to all but one so far. They're lots of fun and challenging, but definitely doable. I just did The Theatre and that was by far the toughest one we've done. There were a few logistical issues but we still had a great time.
I've done a couple of the different rooms in NYC and have one more booked for next month. Hoping to do them all eventually! It is soooo much fun! We escaped once and got so close the 2nd time. It's not claustrophobic, and there is either a guide who stays in the corner of the room with you or cameras in the room, so if you need to get out in the middle, they can let you out. Everyone always has something to do because there are so many puzzles to solve in each room, and each person contributes with their own strengths. But you work together as a team no matter what, it's a major adrenaline rush, and a total blast. 100% recommended!
Taz, you shouldn't have a problem. The Office is the smallest space but it's got lots of windows and a high ceiling. I'm sure if you had an issue they'd help you out.
Just did the Orlando room (The Great Escape) last night!
What a blast!!! We had a group 6 and they matched us up with 3 other people so altogether 9 of us went in. The clues were challenging but not over the top hard where they were impossible to figure out. A good mix of riddles, logic puzzles, anagrams, number games, and digging around the room. Everyone in the group naturally gravitated to a puzzle they could work on. There's a guide in the room who can answer certain questions (but not others) and who also tells you what not to touch (had he not been there we would have pulled the air conditioning vents right off the wall!)
We made it out with about 5 minutes to spare..it was a real nail biter! I can't wait to go back and try one of their other rooms or try the NYC version the next time I'm there! Totally was worth the $30.
