Much better week for 'Cinderella'. I expect great grosses in the upcoming summer months. 'Jersey Boys' got a nice boost from the film. Tourist shows like 'Les Miserables', 'Rock of Ages', 'Chicago' and 'Mamma Mia' also went up a little bit.
Some good grosses out there, but quite a few shows are struggling: Holler, Bullets, Rocky, etc.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Usually, the week a show has its opening, it takes a hit since so many seats are comps. But since most performances of Holler are comped, did that have much impact on its week?
For all the criticism lobbed at Beautiful on this board back when it opened, it sure has become a bonafide hit. Brava to the cast+crew over at the Sondheim.
Sorry if this is a dumb math question. Are the $0 comped tickets for Holler being calculated into the average ticket price? Is that why it's $32? Or are they literally selling most of their tickets for $32?
Surprised nobody has mentioned that the box office gross for ALL THE WAY this past week of $1.425 million is a new all-time record for a straight play playing a standard 8 show week. Quite an achievement especially for a 3 hour historical drama. Congrats to all involved. Congratulations ALL THE WAY
