"Why it’s essential: Giant tests the limits of how long a musical can be, clocking in at an impressive three hours and 45 minutes. Originally presented in three acts, Giant may simply be too much for some, but the show’s length aptly reflects the expansiveness of the plot and of the Texas setting. It’s called Giant for a reason."
Huh? It's good because it's long?

Wanting life but never
knowing how
Well they do say it's "impressive" and I think not just due to its length (but I mean, how many times have we all heard that before and been let down *wink* *wink*) I was happy to see it on the list, regardless.
A list of the Best of Anything that ranks that tedious batch of dysfunctional family tropes NEXT TO NORMAL as #1, ranks the cliche-ridden PASSING STRANGE above THE GREAT COMET OF 1812, and actually includes that vile atrocity MEMPHIS is quite simply not worth the cyberspace it occupies.

"Hairspray, Spamalot, a few others I can't think of offhand... I could make a list of the 43 worst much more easily, but frankly, I wish I could forget them altogether."
I croaked when I read you put Spamalot as one of the best musicals since 2000. I enjoyed the show when I saw it but... one of the best since 2000? Oy.
I'm not sure why there's so much "buzz" about this list on the boards and facebook. It's not like a group of theater professionals came together to create it.
It's no different than any of us starting a similar list.
I've seen it on Facebook - I agree with Taz that it's getting play because it's on a high-profile, non-theatre site. Granted, a site that makes junk food look substantial, but still.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Well this list was clearly made by one person, and there is no way that a group of people would decide on choices so eclectic like these. I wonder why SPAMALOT was not included on the list, nor were MATILDA or THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. I am glad that THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, HERE LIES LOVE, NATASHA, PIERRE, and especially THE WILD PARTY made the list.
