Im planning on coming to see of mice and men in july with my cousin to a matinee show and I really want to try and get James Franco to sign my playbill and wondering if he comes out at all after the matinee shows to sign? does anyone know? its really important to me. :)
I went to a Wednesday matinee last month, and none of them came out. So, I think it depends on a lot of things and it's a hit or miss situation. Be prepared for madness.
If youre a gay man and come out to him, he will spend extra time with you. He loves gay men. If you saw his film Interior Leather Bar or pretend to he'll be really into you.

MagicStorm, it sounds like it's very hit-or-miss if Franco will sign after a matinee. But even if you are prepared to wait, you should know that there already will be a slew of people waiting at the stage-door barricades before you even get out of that matinee. These are people who didn't see the show that day; some of them probably haven't seen 'Mice and Men' at all. They're autograph hounds hoping Franco will sign movie stills, etc. ... If you're free that night, I would suggest trying to get to the barricades at least an hour before the evening show lets out. If you're not standing next to the barricades, Franco won't be near enough to sign your Playbill. It's crazy. Good luck!
I wish for you to someday soon have the ability to fully appreciate a great performance without needing to get ink on paper.
In the meanwhile, it would make me sad if you took this amazing opportunity we have to see so many great performances this year, and judged each experience on whether or not you were able to snag a signature,
What counts is what happens onstage, not at the stage door.
PalJoey, no need to be so judgmental. The OP never said that his or her stage door wishes had anything to do with his or her appreciation of the production. He might not get James's autograph but still have enjoyed the show and be glad he went.
When I first started going, part of what drew me to the theater was the chance to see people I had seen on the big screen. That's not what keeps me going now, but if going to the stage door encourages people to go to the theater, that's not a bad thing.
Thank you all! This is unbelieveably my first Broadway show ever cuz I'm generally pretty poor so I'm really really excited about seeing the performance! I also love James Franco for a super long time so was just wondering if there would maybe be an opportunity to see him and get a signature as well. either way it's gonna be a blast and I can't wait!
@PalJoey, You act like it's a bad thing. I don't see any reason why wanting to meet someone you like shouldn't be important. I mean, if someone wants to meet a person who's work they admire, then what is wrong with that.
Hey, I couldn't help but notice that you said you're going to a wednesday matinee in July. So am I, I'm going this Wednesday. I'm so excited! Did you go already or are you also going this wednesday?
I actually already went. He didn't come out To sign after the afternoon show cuz he wasn't feeling well but we went back after the 8pm ahow and he signed my playbill and book and took pictures. The show was absolutely phenomenal and I had such a great time. What a wonderful experience. I can't wait to go back and see another show now! So glad I went.
