Posted: 3/4/14 at 6:39pmThe incredible Pia Douwes is starring as Claire in the Austrian version of this musical. They opened last week to great reviews at the Ronacher Theater. It is not the Kander and Ebb version. It is called Der Besuch Der Alten Dame and some videos can be found on YouTube. Hope Chita's version is a success too. Pia is a super talented woman.

I remember, when The Visit was coming to Broadway, I was actually kind of excited because I thought it was an English translation of this musical. (Having heard a few songs, I don't completely understand German, so I was looking forward to the idea of being able to fully understand the show. Alas, at least we still got the very wonderful "The Visit" musical that we have on Broadway right now!)
Naturally, this isn't in English, but I still think this song is pretty sweet.

They actually made an international trailer for this production. The songs are still in German, but everything else is aimed at an international audience:
A lot of high quality production photos can be found here. You have to click on musicals on the left and then DER BESUCH DER ALTEN DAME (The Visit). I love the way the set is designed and I really regret not seeing it while it was still running because I could have, ugh.

Ugh, I know, it looks so good! Maybe an English-language production will open up in London or something someday.
