Wow, I didn't realize only 7 original cast members remain only 1.5 years after opening. That's an unusually low percentage, although it's skewed because all of the acrobats except Orion have left (which isn't surprising because being in a Broadway show is more of a diversion than part of their normal career path).
It's a weird coincidence that all 4 female non-acrobat ensemble/swing members have left, but only 1 of the 4 male ones has.
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
Molly Tynes was both an acrobat and regular ensemble member but there is and were always only 3 regular ensemble members that were female which included Molly.
Why is Kyle Dean Massey leaving?? There is nothing about it anywhere that I have found and this Josh Kaufman seems like an April Fool's prank...I would never pay $142 to see him and he is by no means a "celebrity". Anybody have any insight to KDM's departure?
Looks like we'll be getting a much better leading cast in LA than folks will be getting on Broadway. I'm kind of puzzled by this casting as well. Are Voice winners really well known enough to justify their stunt casting? I've only seen a couple of episodes, but my impression was that the judges were the star of that show.
Grosses just went up this week & a little bit of an ouch for Pippin. Barry and Fran are in trouble if they think Josh is going to bring in ticket sales during the hard months.
After the show on Sunday I chatted with the stage doorman and he said that Rhea Perlman is I talks to join as Berthe at some point and that Melanie Griffith is supposed to join in January as Charlotte's replacement.
I AM SO SICK AND I DO MEAN SICK!!!! OF PEOPLE ON THIS SITE making uneducated comments like " walking through it for months". How would you know what it means to do eight shows a week. How would you know what it means to bust your ass on stage night after night, day after day... YOU DON'T KNOW! Charlotte d'Amboise is one of the FINEST and REAL triple threats left out there. SHE KILLS THAT STAGE!
So in the future if you dislike a person performance feel free to say you didn't care for their portrayal. But don't ever EVER say a performer has been walking through it!
Easy, Troy, easy. I ADORE Charlotte, but uhh... relax. I think it's a rather silly argument that one has to have experience as an 8-show-a-week-for-more-than-a-year Broadway actress to be able to judge the performance of the actress.
That being said, unless getatme has been back multiple times, saying that Charlotte has been walking through the role for months is a bit much.
Gleek - happy to hear she's still killing it, though! I first saw her in the first (or second) national tour of Chicago well into her run and, her innate comedic sensibilities and her sensational dancing and singing were marvelous. Still my favorite Roxie.
Now, Charlotte's hubby, on the other hand? When I saw him about 10 mos into the run of Pippin, was definitely on autopilot.
LEAVE CHARLOTTE ALONE!!!!! I MEAN IT!!! You're lucky she even performs for you people. Anyone who has a problem with Charlotte, YOU DEAL WITH MEEEEE!!!!! Leave Charlotte alone RIGHT NOW!!!
I was there on Sunday, and Charlotte's Spread a Little Sunshine was the best I've seen of 16 shows over the past year and a half. She is definitely not walking through it. I'm not sure how anyone can walk through a three-minute dance solo with two costume changes.
Having seen the show A LOT, Yes, Charlotte was walking through the role up until a few weeks ago. I saw it 2 weeks ago and her fire was relit. I don't know if she was sick or bored but up until 2 weeks ago it was not the same as in the beginning. Sorry.
And yes, I do know what it is like to bust your a$$ for 8 shows a week. Which is part of the reason this old gal doesn't do it anymore.
^ A lot can change in 6 months, and she was walking through it longer before then.
She just doesn't care anymore. She tries more and more each time I see it to try to get applause from the audience, and they usually aren't willing to comply. It's desperate. I'll be happy when she's gone.
@ wdwfreak - brdway411 was saying that up until 2 weeks ago (When he made the post), Charlotte was walking thru the show- I was pointing out that I saw the show more then a few weeks ago (when he saw it), and she was not walking thru it. His claim was that before two weeks ago she was walking thru it, but i was point out that I saw her more then a few weeks ago and she was not walking thru it (March)
