I am so excited about the 5th Avenue's season. We heard a song from Something Rotten, and it was definitely the show stopper of the evening. A Christmas Story is in house this year. I don't know anything about Jacques Brel, but I wasn't super impressed. Has anyone seen it? A Chorus Line is one of my favorites, the 5th Ave will do a great job with Grease, and I haven't seen Carousel in about a million years. Also, I love the amazing discount I get for being under 35. I got 16 tickets last night for 490 dollars total in pretty good seats. I'm lucky to live in the same city as the 5th!

As for the SCFTA's new season how disappointing with only three shows that I'd be interested in seeing. Won't be renewing my season subscription; have decided that I will trade theirs for the La Jolla Playhouse.

2014-2015 Season:

"Chasing the Song", a new musical by the creators of "Memphis" (May 13-June 15, 2014)

"The Orphan of Zhao" with BD Wong (July 8-August 3, 2014)

"Ether Dome", a new play based on the true story of the discovery of ether as an anesthetic in 1846 (July 11-August 10, 2014)

"The Bald Soprano" by Eugene Ionesco (Sept. 23-October 19, 2014)

"The Hunchback of Notre Dame" U.S. Premiere Musical by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz (October 26-December 7, 2014)

Kingdom City--World Premier Play in which a 20th Century classic play (The Crucible) inspires a 20th Century showdown. (Feb. 10-March 8, 2015)

Louisville just Announced theirs:

I Love Lucy - October 7 - 12
Newsies - November 18 - 23
Once - January 20 - 25
The Lion King - March 3 - 29
Pippin - June 2 - 7

One of our better seasons in awhile. I'm excited for everything except The Lion King. I saw it in Tennesee and was a little let down because it did not live up to the hype. I don't really think it needs that long of a run. Also has anyone seen Lucy yet? I'm really excited for it because I love the TV show and the concept of the audience being the studio audience interegues me. Is it any good?

gleek4114: I saw I Love Lucy, and honestly wasn't too thrilled by it. I do like the show cause I would sometimes watch it with my parents but the play was pretty dull. All the performances were terrific but the episodes they recreated weren't that funny. If you're an absolute die hard I love lucy fan than I guess go see it but if you're not then I would probably not recommend it.

Regarding the Milwaukee season, it should be noted that THE LION KING will not be performed at the Marcus Center. The Marcus Center has continental-style seating with no center aisles for the animal parade at the start of the production. Instead, the tour will play the vast Milwaukee Theater, formerly the Milwaukee Auditorium, which has 4,086 seats -- and plenty of aisles!

As you may see in this picture, the only aisles in the Marcus Center are narrow ones on each side of the auditorium. The large elephant would not fit in one of those aisles. And there is no aisle at the back of the auditorium either.

I just watched a video about Louisville's season and they said that they will be creating a center isle specifically for The Lion King.

When THE LION KING came here a few years ago, they removed seats to make aisles, which I am sure they will be doing for the ones that don't have any either.
