Of the original SA cast, JGJ may have done the most post-SA with big roles in both Jerusalem and American Idiot. Plus now he is on HBO's The Newsroom, and he's quite fantastic on it.
It's silly but every time a new shows announces its cast I scour the list in the hopes of seeing one of their names. And Maddie, I think Krysta Rodriguez has done the most since then - A Chorus Line, Addams Family, In the Heights, First Date. And of course Jennifer Damiano did Next to Normal. Funny how they were both swings and have now become Broadway names.
Gerard Canonico and Brian.....whathisname were also both in AI.
Canonico (Bare, too), Gideon Glick (Also of Spiderman), Matt Doyle (That has also appeared in Birdie and currently in BOM) are also all connected to a new work directed by Michael Meyer this summer. (Alice Lee, too)

I think Jonnie Groff has had the most visable, varied career of the SA Gang and is the only one with the balls to show his balls. But Lea is probably the richest.
I suppose if you didn't know who JGJ was, there the interest on whether he's returning isn't a big deal.
Most visable? Doubtful, other than his guest starring on Glee, I don't think he's done much to garner name/face recognition. (I don't think thats bad, because it truly seems that kid truly thinks about the vehicle, not stardom.)
However, I think I'd be hard pressed to say whether I thought Gallagher or Groff had the strongest future possibilities.

JGL (John Gallagher, Jr) has done 2 Broadway shows since SA (Spring Awakening, for those who don't want to do a google search) closed on Bwy (Broadway). AI (American Idiot) and JLRM (Jerusalem), which x'd (closed) >2 yrs ago now he's on tv. Give him a chance 2 find a nu sho. geeez.

Oooooooooohhhhhhh. Gotcha. Took a minute. (Obviously.)
(He certainly has self confidence with the whole nudity thang. Good for him. And us.)

As much as I'd love to see John Gallagher Jr (see no initials!)back on stage, he's fantastic in The Newsroom which more than makes up for those appearances in Jonah Hex and Whatever Works!
The career success rate for previous Spring Awakening cast members actually seems to be quite high, the majority have gone on to do really well (Skylar Astin as well, who seems to be building quite the career). And not just in the US but the UK cast are doing really well too, particularly Iwan Rheon who's landed a pivital role in Game of Thrones. And wasn't the girl who plays Scarlett in Nashville Wendla in the Australian production?
