Anyone going to this? Its director by George C.Wolfe who did the Elaine Stritch "At Liberty" among others. I like his work and Tom hanks…I just got a tele charge marketing for the preview in 2 weeks…
I'm new here to posting (not reading) and I find most you very knowledgeable and some of you hysterically funny…. was curious on the boards collective thoughts.
This will either be the hit of the season or a banal evening in the theater. Since Nora Ephron is no longer with us, there won't be any re-writes during the rehearsal/preview process (unless her literary executor gives Wolfe -- a talented writer in own right -- permission to do so).
The show will be a box office success thanks to Tom Hanks but a critical success is still to be determined.
Going March 23. Not only will it be fun to see Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari together again, but the supporting cast is stellar -- especially excited about Maura Tierney, Peter Gerety and Deirdre Lovejoy. With this cast, Wolfe's direction, and Ephron's words, the chances for success seem great.
One of my former students has several cameos in this production and also is u/s for several roles. Of course, he says it's one of the most magnificent things ever to hit Broadway.
